X-Men ’97 Season 2 Trailer Reveals New Faces, Time-Travel Plot, and July 2026 Release Date
Marvel Animation has released the first trailer for X-Men ’97 Season 2, giving fans a clearer look at where the animated series is headed after its dramatic first season finale. And for those of you who feel like you’ve been waiting forever, the new season will officially premiere July 1, 2026, on Disney+, with nine episodes set to continue the story of the mutant team across several different timelines.
The trailer itself picks up with the X-Men divided and thrown across time, forcing the team to find their way back to the 1990s while new threats begin to build in their absence. The footage teases an expanded role for Apocalypse, with the story stretching from ancient Egypt to the distant future. That larger scale gives Season 2 a more cosmic feel, while still keeping the emotional fallout from Season 1 close to the surface—and yes, we still miss you, Remy.
The returning voice cast includes Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast. The trailer also hints at several familiar comic book faces entering the mix, including Polaris, Psylocke, Archangel, Colossus, and members of X-Force.
Season 1 helped reintroduce X-Men: The Animated Series to a new generation while giving longtime viewers a continuation that felt aware of the original show’s legacy. Season 2 appears ready to push that story into a much bigger battlefield, with time travel, fractured team dynamics, and the shadow of Apocalypse all shaping the next chapter.
With its July release now confirmed, X-Men ’97 Season 2 looks set to bring the mutants back with plenty of big swings, an exciting comic book canvas, and more than a few questions left hanging from the finale.
