The Secrets, Betrayals, and Biggest Bombshells of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 3

Season 3 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives promised mess, and somehow still managed to exceed expectations. Between old feuds boiling over, new betrayals, and a reunion that felt one argument away from a full evacuation notice, it was the franchise’s most chaotic run yet. Here are some of the biggest reveals and jaw-dropping moments that defined the season.

A dark divide: Demi vs. Jessi goes nuclear

The Demi Engemann / Jessi Draper Ngatikaura situation stopped being “just” a friendship breakup a long time ago, but Season 3 turned it into the show’s central fault line. Right out the gate, Jessi finally laid out more details surrounding her “emotional affair” with Vanderpump Villa’s Marciano Brunette, admitting they kissed during a separation from her husband Jordan and describing how long she hid it. From there, things spiraled: ambiguous lie detector tests, NSFW allegations flying on social and in press, accusations of story-shaping, and claims about who tried to leverage what for camera time.

At this point, it’s less a rift and more a canyon. The lines between “sharing your truth” and “weaponizing a storyline” feel completely blurred, and with legal language and serious accusations involved, it’s messy in a way that stops being easy for anyone to weigh in on. So yeah: this one’s sticky, and we’re just going to clock it as the season’s biggest point of contention and move respectfully along.

Whitney Makes Progress with Mikayla and the Rest of MomTok

Whitney Leavitt has spent two seasons on the outskirts of MomTok, dealing with her own scandals, her Dancing With the Stars run, and a lot of chatter about whether she was using the show as a stepping stone (which, she even admitted was her motive—very iconic, honestly). But finally, Season 3 did something important with her: it let her inch back toward co-star Mikayla Matthews and the others after what felt like a permanent freeze-out.

Sure, the reconciliation isn’t a neat bow, but seeing Whitney and Mikayla actually sit, talk, and get past the point of indirect shade and podcast tea feels like a long time coming. It’s actually one of the few arcs this year that offers something close to closure, and honestly, after everything, it’s nice to have at least one dynamic trending in a healthier direction. We love that for them!

Dakota betrays Taylor… again

Was it surprising that Dakota Mortensen hurt Taylor Frankie Paul again? Not really. Was it still stomach-turning to watch the specifics roll out? Absolutely. Season 3 centered one of its major plotlines on allegations that Dakota sexted one of Taylor’s mom’s friends (yes, you read that correctly) while their relationship was in a fragile, on-a-break limbo.

By the time we reach the reunion, the wound is wide open. The two rehash the betrayal, Taylor’s family weighs in, and things end with Dakota ripping off his mic and storming off set after a tense exchange about his behavior and his role as a father. It’s not the biggest shock given his history on the show, but the fact that the alleged messages involved a close family friend takes it to a different category. At this point, whether he steps back from the group or the group steps back from him, it feels like his time in this circle should be winding down.

DadTok really wants a spin-off (whether we asked or not)

DadTok started as a lighthearted counterpart to MomTok. By Season 3, it’s a full-on supporting cast, and in some moments, the dads look very aware of it. In fact, others have already clocked the group’s growing presence and how Jordan, Dakota, and the other dads have turned their “parody” into a genuine side brand and support system.

On the show, though, that sometimes translates to the men jockeying for screen time, shoehorning themselves into conflicts, and having super serious heart-to-hearts while literally wearing DadTok merch. Add in the fact that the reunion is once again stacked with dads on the couches, and it starts to feel like we’ve slipped into a twilight zone where everyone’s auditioning for their own Hulu logline. Sure, it can be fun—but only in careful doses!

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives can be streamed exclusively on Hulu.
