Paramount+ Unveils First Look at School Spirits Season 3
Paramount+ is heading back to Split River High. The streamer has officially set January 28, 2026, as the premiere date for Season 3 of its original drama School Spirits, rolling out with a three-episode launch before continuing weekly on the platform. The date was revealed during Paramount+’s CCXP panel in São Paulo, Brazil, where series lead and executive producer Peyton List appeared to debut a date-announcement teaser and a batch of first-look images from the new season.
A Darker Mystery at Split River High
Created by Nate and Megan Trinrud and produced by Paramount Television Studios, School Spirits follows Maddie Nears, a teenager who finds herself stuck in the afterlife investigating her own disappearance, only to uncover a web of secrets tied to the school and the people she left behind.
Season 3 pushes Maddie and her friends into an even darker corner of Split River’s mythology. According to the new synopsis, the upcoming chapter plunges Maddie Nears and her friends into a deeper, darker mystery as the veil between worlds grows dangerously thin, delivering twists that challenge everything they thought they knew. After clawing her way back to life at the end of Season 2, Maddie is now grappling with terrifying visions and the responsibility of protecting both the living and the dead, while Simon (trapped in the afterlife) becomes fixated on the secrets buried in Split River High’s scars. As they dig into why so many people have died at the school and what, exactly, Mr. Martin was trying to warn them about, new dangers and long-buried truths begin to surface.
Cast, New Faces, and Creative Team
The core ensemble returns for Season 3 Peyton List reprises her role as Maddie Nears alongside Kristian Ventura as Simon Elroy, Spencer MacPherson as Xavier Baxter, Kiara Pichardo as Nicole Herrera, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Nick Pugliese as Charley, Rainbow Wedell as Claire Zomer, Josh Zuckerman as Mr. Martin, Ci Hang Ma as Quinn, Miles Elliot as Yuri and Milo Manheim as Wally Clark. They’re joined by an equally key bench of recurring players: Maria Dizzia returns as Maddie’s mother Sandra, Patrick Gilmore as Mr. Anderson, Alex Zahara as Principal Hartman, Ian Tracey as Sheriff Baxter, Jess Gabor as Janet, and Zack Calderon as Diego, all still intertwined with the mysteries radiating out from Split River High.
Season 3 is also adding new faces to the mix. Jennifer Tilly joins the series in a recurring role as Dr. Hunter-Price, with Ari Dalbert playing Kyle and Erika Swayze appearing as Livia, expanding the show’s world and introducing fresh complications for both the living students and their ghostly counterparts.
Behind the camera, the key creative team remains in place. School Spirits was created by Nate Trinrud and Megan Trinrud, who continue to serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars, Bridgerton) also returns as co-showrunner and executive producer, with List once again on board as an executive producer in addition to her lead role. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios.
Across its first two seasons, School Spirits built a reputation for mixing genre twists with grounded, emotional storytelling, using its afterlife premise to explore grief, friendship, and the unsettling limbo between adolescence and adulthood. With a three-episode premiere, returning favorites, and a promise to go deeper and darker into the scars of Split River, Season 3 has the potential to become the show’s most ambitious haunting yet, widening the mystery of why the town—and its high school—never seem ready to let the past rest.
