Every Exciting Reveal From Pokemon Day 2025
On February 27, 2025, fans around the globe celebrated Pokémon Day, commemorating the 29th anniversary of the first Pokémon games launched in Japan. And as expected, this year’s festivities were a spectacular showcase of new game experiences and entertainment offerings announced during the latest Pokémon Presents presentation, which unveiled a slew of exciting updates set to launch in 2025 and beyond. Here’s everything we learned from the special occasion!
Pokemon Legends: Z-A - A New Chapter in Lumiose City
After generating a hefty amount of fandom hype, the eagerly anticipated Pokémon Legends: Z-A is officially set to launch in late 2025 for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. This new installment takes place in the bustling Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is shaping the city into a harmonious space for both people and Pokémon. Trainers will embark on their journey with a choice of three partner Pokémon: Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile.
Introducing the series’ first real-time battle system with timing-based mechanics, the game offers an immersive experience as players explore Wild Zones, employ stealth tactics, and engage in dynamic battles to catch Pokémon. Mega Evolution, a powerful transformation beyond standard Evolution, will play a crucial role in battles, adding an extra layer of strategy and excitement. But honestly, Chikorita and Totodile are enough to get us on board here!
Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Offers Fans A Milestone Celebration
In celebration of surpassing 100 million downloads, the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app has finally released the new Triumphant Light-themed booster pack—just in time for the weekend! And we won’t spoil everything (for those seeking the element of surprise in a pull), but there’s a solid blend of generations for everyone to enjoy.
Furthermore, Ranked Matches will be introduced in March 2025, enhancing the competitive aspect of the game. As if that wasn’t enough, from February 27 to April 29, players can log in to receive special booster packs at no cost alongside special missions that offer unique rewards.
Pokemon Concierge Returns
It’s time to return to the aesthetically pleasing world of Pokémon-based hospitality! After earning plenty of attention with its first batch of episodes, fans of the beloved Pokémon Concierge series can look forward to new episodes premiering exclusively on Netflix in September 2025.
To celebrate the special Pokémon-centric day, a teaser visual and test footage dropped, showcasing new Pokémon characters (with new guests like Shinx, Corphish, and Arcanine) building anticipation for the upcoming episodes. Additionally, the first four episodes of Pokémon Concierge are available on Pokémon’s official YouTube channel until March 9, 2025, giving fans a chance to get caught up before the new episodes.
Pokemon Champions: The Ultimate Battle Experience
One of the standout announcements was the introduction of Pokémon Champions, a new game developed by The Pokémon Works in collaboration with GAME FREAK. Designed to bring core game-style battles to a wider audience, Pokémon Champions will be available on the Nintendo Switch family of systems and mobile devices.
The game is also set to feature compatibility with Pokémon HOME, allowing players to use Pokémon from previous titles. With its focus on strategy and global competition, Pokémon Champions aims to become a favorite among battle enthusiasts.
Expanding Accessibility: Latin American Spanish Support
In a move to make the Pokémon experience more inclusive, Latin American Spanish support is expanding across several Pokémon games, including Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Pokémon Champions, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game. This initiative aims to bring the joy of Pokémon to an even broader audience (because we all know Pokémon is global), ensuring that even more fans can enjoy the franchise in their preferred language.
Additional Game Updates and Announcements
Several other Pokémon games and apps also received exciting updates. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will aim to introduce new content, while Pokémon GO players can take advantage of special codes and encounters. On the other hand, Pokémon Sleep will reward players with in-game items for tracking their sleep patterns, and Pokémon UNITE will also add new characters and challenges. Pokémon Masters EX and Pokémon Cafe ReMix fans will also feature new events and rewards, ensuring that the vast array of fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
Needless to say, there’s no shortage of Pokémon content to come in 2025!
