Marvel Unveils New Midnight Universe Covers for February 2027

Marvel's Midnight Universe is preparing to enter its next terrifying chapter, with new cover reveals and story details offering an early look at what's ahead for three of its flagship titles. Arriving in February 2027, Midnight Spider-Man #5, Midnight Fantastic Four #5, and Midnight X-Men #5 will continue reimagining some of the publisher's most recognizable heroes through supernatural horror, disturbing transformations, and a dangerous new world.

The announcements follow the Midnight Universe's coordinated debut on October 7, which introduced all three series as part of an interconnected world operating outside Marvel's primary continuity. With more than one million combined retailer orders ahead of launch, the initial response also prompted second printings of the debut issues, scheduled for October 28. Now, as the stories move beyond their introductions, the newly revealed fifth issues offer a closer look at how each creative team plans to develop the horrors facing its respective heroes.

What Awaits Marvel's Midnight Heroes in February?

The newly revealed fifth issues continue several of the line's central horror concepts, beginning with Midnight Spider-Man #5 from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist ScieTronc. Peter Parker will face a dangerous second-generation creation from Oscorp, while the mutation responsible for his own transformation spreads to another host. The development suggests that Spider-Man's increasingly grotesque circumstances could extend well beyond Peter himself.

Meanwhile, Midnight Fantastic Four #5 will further explore the physical changes affecting Marvel's First Family. Written by Benjamin Percy and illustrated by Marcelo Ferreira, the issue finds Reed Richards struggling to understand their continuing transformations as tensions grow within the team. A mysterious presence stalking the woods surrounding Storm Systems headquarters introduces another threat, bringing fresh danger to a series already rooted in the unsettling consequences of scientific exploration.

The supernatural conflict continues in Midnight X-Men #5 (our personal favorite Midnight title so far), written by Jonathan Hickman with artwork by Matteo Buffagni. Following a debut that established a vampiric catastrophe affecting mutantkind, the upcoming issue teases an encounter between Ronin and Reaver, alongside a sinister agreement forged in Hell. While the exact circumstances remain unclear for now, the story will explore lingering hostilities under an increasingly fragile peace.

Each release also features a newly unveiled main cover, with Steve Beach illustrating Midnight Spider-Man #5, Kev Walker providing the artwork for Midnight Fantastic Four #5, and Dike Ruan returning for Midnight X-Men #5.

All three issues will arrive on consecutive Wednesdays in February 2027, beginning with Midnight Spider-Man #5 on February 3, followed by Midnight Fantastic Four #5 on February 10 and Midnight X-Men #5 on February 17.
