Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Sets October Crunchyroll Premiere
The next chapter of Dragon Ball’s anime return finally has a streaming home for international fans. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will arrive on Crunchyroll on October 11, bringing the newly enhanced version of the series to viewers alongside its Japanese premiere.
While the familiar God of Destruction storyline sits at the center of the project, Beerus is shaping up to be considerably more ambitious than a straightforward return to the earliest episodes of Dragon Ball Super. Toei Animation has revisited the material with new and redrawn animation, reconstructed storytelling, and a visual overhaul intended to bring the story closer to Akira Toriyama’s original work.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Revisits a Major Turning Point for Goku
Set several years after the battle against Majin Buu, the story begins with Earth enjoying a rare period of peace before Beerus awakens from his long sleep. Once the God of Destruction learns about the Saiyan responsible for defeating Frieza, his attention eventually turns toward Goku — placing Earth directly in the path of one of the most powerful beings the franchise had introduced at that point.
Fans will obviously recognize the foundation here, but the appeal of Beerus comes from getting another version of a story that dramatically expanded the scale of Dragon Ball. Beerus and the wider divine hierarchy became fundamental to everything that followed in Super, making this a particularly fitting place for Toei to revisit as the anime begins moving forward again.
The Enhanced Edition Is More Than a Visual Touch-Up
Toei has described Dragon Ball Super: Beerus as an “enhanced” edition, with a large amount of newly added and redrawn footage alongside a reconstructed narrative. Battle sequences are receiving particular attention, while the production is aiming for a presentation that more closely reflects Toriyama’s original ideas and worldbuilding.
The series also keeps two especially familiar voices at its center, with Masako Nozawa returning as Son Goku and Kōichi Yamadera as Beerus. Matsuto Seya is handling composition and direction arrangement, while Tadayoshi Yamamuro serves as animation character designer and general animation director.
Crunchyroll Will Stream Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Beginning October 11
Crunchyroll has now confirmed that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will begin streaming with subtitles on October 11. Its availability includes the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, India, Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
And with new animation, revised storytelling, and a worldwide streaming rollout nearly here, October 11 is suddenly a very important date for the franchise.
