Things We Need From The Acolyte Season 2
The first season of Disney’s The Acolyte recently concluded, with its unique take on the Star Wars universe leaving fans intrigued (yet, divided) about what might come next. Because, after wrapping the season with a slew of new questions, a season two appears to be possible for several reasons. That being said, here are some of the most pressing issues we’re hoping to see addressed if the series receives a second chapter.
Osha and Mae’s Story Feels Like an Introduction to Something Much Larger
Firstly, the storyline of Osha and Mae concludes at a point ripe for further exploration. Mae's selfless choice to lose her memories (to help maintain Osha’s secrecy) and Osha's largely unexpected journey into the Dark Side open doors to intricate developments and captivating mysteries that demand continuation. And when a series takes such a bold swing with a character’s transition in real-time, there needs to be more time to really make these choices set in.
Will Osha and Mae reunite? How powerful is Osha given her uncommon force connection? Do they play a larger role that hasn’t been revealed? We have questions and following up with a season two could actually offer us those answers.
More Examples of Magic Within the Star Wars Universe
Moreover, a deeper dive into the origins and abilities of the witches behind Osha and Mae would enrich the narrative with a layer of mystic depth. Magic has always been a mesmerizing element in the Star Wars universe, and shedding light on these enigmatic beings (or their true intentions or ties to The Force) could provide a profound insight into this mystical facet of the saga as recently teased in Ahsoka.
There’s always a coven-like group with untapped power — and choosing to continuously wipe them out feels like we’re almost disregarding the potential impact it could have within broader Star Wars stories for future projects.
Yoda Deserves More Than A Cameo — Bring Him In!
Additionally, the much-awaited return of Yoda is long overdue. While Grogu has captured hearts with his presence in Mandalorian, reintroducing the legendary Jedi Master would satisfy the yearning for nostalgia and wisdom that fans have been anticipating. Yoda is truly the original Jedi icon — and while a revival is clearly out of the cards, an Acolyte-era role might be the perfect way to embrace his legacy of the thriving franchise. That, or give us a Yoda solo series, because he’s earned something in the modern era of Star Wars!
More on Dark Plagueis
The character of Darth Plagueis holds immense potential to become a central figure in the series. With his enigmatic and intricate backstory yet to be fully unveiled (outside of conversational moments or novel involvement), a plethora of untold stories surrounding Palpatine’s Sith Master just waits to be explored.
The tantalizing glimpse of him watching Osha and Qimir during the final moments of the first season hints at the vast narrative possibilities that await in a potential second season. If we’re getting to see some of the big powerhouses of the Star Wars universe before Palpatine, Thrawn, or Darth Vader, it needs to happen eventually!
The first season of The Acolyte can be streamed in full on Disney+.
