Street Fighter Debuts Action-Packed First Trailer and New Posters
The new Street Fighter trailer has arrived, and it gives a much clearer sense of the campy, self-aware action movie that Paramount and Legendary are making. The official trailer footage introduces a version of the franchise that looks large in scale, slightly offbeat, and fully committed to the series’ outlandish action style without losing sight of the characters at the center of it. And instead of trying to spotlight everyone at once, the trailer keeps its attention on Ryu, Ken Masters, and Chun-Li, with Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, and Callina Liang carrying the story forward from the start.
What We Know So Far
Set in 1993, the film follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken as Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament. What begins as a showdown between skilled fighters quickly opens into something more complicated, with the film’s official synopsis describing a larger conspiracy behind the tournament that forces the characters to face each other as well as the parts of their past they have not left behind. That gives the trailer a stronger sense of direction than a simple string of fight scenes and character reveals. But of course, those traditional Street Fighter elements are the real reason people are interested.
The trailer also has a more specific personality than many first looks in this space. The footage is perfectly set to 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?,” a music choice that matches the film’s early-’90s setting and adds a slightly playful edge to the action-centric mayhem. Alongside the trailer, Paramount also rolled out new posters (included above), which help establish the film as a broad ensemble piece while still keeping the focus on its best-known faces.
That ensemble is part of what makes the movie stand out too. Beyond Koji, Centineo, and Liang, the cast includes Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Orville Peck as Vega, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, and Jason Momoa as Blanka, with Kitao Sakurai directing. And based on the trailer alone, the film seems less interested in sanding down what makes Street Fighter memorable than in bringing that rivalry, weirdness, and scale to the screen in a way that still feels fun.
Street Fighter opens in theaters on October 16, 2026.
