Godzilla Minus Zero First Look Teases Destruction in New York

The first teaser for Godzilla Minus Zero is here, offering audiences an early look at Takashi Yamazaki’s follow-up to Godzilla Minus One. GKIDS has confirmed that Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe are returning as Koichi Shikishima and Noriko Oishi, with the sequel continuing the story of the Shikishima family.

That is a major draw for fans, because it immediately frames the sequel as something more connected than a typical franchise extension. Godzilla Minus One worked so well because the destruction never felt separated from the people at its center, and confirming those returning characters helps the new film feel grounded before the teaser even gets into its larger-scale imagery.

The first footage hints That Godzilla will Arrive IN New York City

The footage itself points to a film that is opening the story up visually without completely shifting its focus. This time, we see imagery tied to a new large-scale operation, and a final shot of Godzilla looming near the Statue of Liberty, all of which confirms a broader international scope than the previous film. There is also a title card confirming that two years have passed since Minus One, which gives the sequel a little more room to build from aftermath instead of immediate survival.

GKIDS is also positioning Godzilla Minus Zero as the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX, which fits with the sense that this chapter is aiming for a larger visual scale while still staying tied to the same family story. Based on this first look, the sequel looks like it wants to expand the world around characters (Godzilla included) that audiences already care about.

The sequel opens in North America on November 6, 2026.
