5 Things We Love About the New Masters of the Universe Trailer

The first full Masters of the Universe trailer is here, and it finally feels like the movie is putting its full hand on the table. Because after the earlier marketing hinted at the scale, this essentially opens things up more, with a better look at Eternia, a stronger sense of Prince Adam’s journey, and a cast that seems ready to fully commit to the fantasy chaos of it all.

An Epic Adventure Awaits

The biggest win here is scale. The trailer gives the world more room to breathe, and that matters for a property like Masters of the Universe. Eternia looks grand, strange, and theatrical in a way that suits the material, while the overall footage suggests a movie that is willing to lean into the franchise’s larger-than-life identity instead of sanding it down. There’s a lot of money going into this film, and the visuals prove it.

The Prince Adam setup works

The movie’s official story centers on Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) being separated from his home for 15 years before the Sword of Power leads him back to Eternia, where he finds the planet under Skeletor’s rule.

That early setup gives the trailer a much stronger emotional hook than a simple origin story that the genre often explores. There is already a sense of distance, loss, and unfinished destiny built into the premise, which helps Adam feel like more than just a guy waiting for his transformation scene. At this point, we all know that origin stories are overrated.

Skeletor Appears

There was always going to be extra pressure on a Masters of the Universe trailer to deliver when it came to Skeletor, and this one does. Jared Leto’s take on the villain is introduced with enough menace and scale to make an impression right away, giving the movie a stronger sense of danger in the process.

In a fantasy world this heightened, the villain has to feel like more than an obligation. Skeletor needs presence, and this first look suggests the film is taking that seriously.

The supporting cast looks stacked in the right way

This is one of those trailers where the ensemble still helps sell the scale of the movie, even without putting every character front and center. Camila Mendes as Teela and Idris Elba as Duncan and Man-At-Arms stand out most in the footage, while the larger cast around them helps give the film a broader sense of shape.

That added scope already makes Masters of the Universe feel more lived-in, which is a big part of why the adaptation is starting to click.

the movie Looks Like It’s embracing the source material

This may be the trailer’s best quality. Masters of the Universe should feel a little wild, a little excessive, and fully comfortable with fantasy imagery that borders on surreal. This footage gets much closer to that. Between the cosmic stakes, the Earth-to-Eternia setup, the oversized mythology, and the sheer sincerity of the whole thing, the movie finally looks like it understands the appeal of this property in the first place. Sure, there is still a lot riding on execution, but as a trailer, at least this is an encouraging first look.

Masters of the Universe reaches theaters in the U.S. on June 5, 2026.
