Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Gets a New Trailer and a February 2027 Release Date
Lara Croft’s next adventure has a release date. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the upcoming reimagining of the original 1996 Tomb Raider, will launch on February 12, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. The news arrived alongside a new (and rather exciting) State of Play trailer, which offered a fresh look at the game’s modernized gameplay, expanded environments, and updated take on Lara’s first major expedition.
Developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog, Legacy of Atlantis is built in Unreal Engine 5 and aims to preserve the spirit of Lara’s debut while reshaping it for a modern audience. The game sends players back through the adventure that helped define the franchise, following Lara as she searches for the scattered pieces of the Scion across locations including Peru, Greece, Egypt, and a mysterious Mediterranean island.
Lara Croft’s First Adventure Gets Rebuilt
The new trailer puts a major focus on Peru’s Lost Valley, one of the most recognizable locations from the original game. This time, the area has been expanded beyond the room-to-room structure of the 1996 release, with puzzles and spaces redesigned into more connected environments that players can explore from different angles. Familiar moments, including the cog puzzle, are returning in reimagined form, giving longtime fans recognizable touchpoints while still offering new ways to experience them.
That approach appears to be central to the entire project. Rather than simply updating the visuals, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is rebuilding exploration, combat, and puzzle-solving around modern design sensibilities. The goal is to make Lara’s original journey feel fresh without losing the sense of danger, discovery, and isolation that made the early games so memorable.
Pre-Orders Are Now Live
Pre-orders are now open on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, with Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders coming at a later date. The game will be available in Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s editions. The Deluxe Edition includes 48-hour early launch access, the Parisian Fugitive Outfit, and a post-launch DLC story pack, while the Collector’s Edition adds physical items including a premium steel case, mini art book, Croft signet pin, Triumvirate Talisman keychain, and a Lara Croft vs. T-Rex statue.
All that considered, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is quickly shaping up as both a celebration of Lara Croft’s origins and a major reintroduction for players discovering her world for the first time.
