Crunchyroll Unleashes a Colossal Preview for Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon
Anime fans, brace yourselves—Crunchyroll has just dropped a massive English-dubbed trailer for Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon, and it’s every bit as monstrous as the kaiju-filled world it depicts.
This omnibus film, a collaboration between Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, is set to stomp into theaters across the United States and Canada for a limited three-day run on April 13, 14, and 16, 2025. And with a runtime of 119 minutes, the film promises a thrilling blend of high-octane action and fresh storytelling, available in both Japanese with English subtitles and a newly minted English dub.
Adapted from Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga, serialized in Shueisha’s MANGA Plus, Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon revisits the pulse-pounding first season of the anime while introducing an all-new episode, “Hoshina’s Day Off.” The new episode, “Hoshina’s Day Off,” offers a lighter detour from the chaos. It’s a rare breather for the Defense Force, where Reno, unsure how to handle downtime, teams up with Iharu to shadow their enigmatic colleague Hoshina.
Helmed by directors Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya, with music by Yuta Bandoh and character designs by Tetsuya Nishio, the film is a visual and auditory feast courtesy of Production I.G. Hirotaka Tokuda’s monster designs bring the kaiju to life with spine-chilling detail. So if you’re looking to dive into the series for the first time (or again), consider this the perfect opportunity!
