Crunchyroll’s Daemons of the Shadow Realm Is Now Streaming Worldwide
Daemons of the Shadow Realm, the new anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa’s manga, is now streaming on Crunchyroll worldwide outside of Asia after making its debut on April 4. And more importantly, new episodes are scheduled to premiere weekly on Saturdays, giving anime fans a fresh fantasy title from the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist to follow through the spring season.
A new fantasy series from Hiromu Arakawa begins
According to early series descriptions and the premiere setup, Daemons of the Shadow Realm follows Yuru, a young hunter in a remote mountain village whose twin sister, Asa, is being held in captivity as part of the village’s mysterious traditions. When violence suddenly tears through that isolated world, the story begins unraveling the secrets surrounding the twins, the village itself, and the supernatural forces tied to both. That setup gives the anime a stronger hook than a standard fantasy launch, since the tension is already built into the twins’ separation and the sense that something is deeply off long before the larger Daemon conflict comes into focus.
Crunchyroll also confirmed the English dub staff and cast for the series. The dub is produced by Crunchyroll, with Shawn Gann as ADR voice director and Matthew Greenbaum as English script writer. The English cast includes Ben Stegmair as Yuru, Molly Zhang as Asa, Bill Butts as Right, Colleen Clinkenbeard as Left, and Jarrod Greene as Dera.
With its April 4 debut making waves (be sure to check it out, now), Daemons of the Shadow Realm is definitely entering the season as one of the more closely watched new fantasy anime releases.
