Paramount Releases New Primate Clip “Lucy, Bad” and Opens Ticket Sales

Paramount has officially kicked Primate’s end-of-year ramp-up into gear—and a new clip titled “Lucy, Bad” is out now, with tickets currently on sale ahead of the movie’s theatrical release on January 9, 2026.

So, what do we actually know about the film at this point? On the story side, Paramount’s logline keeps it clean and nasty: Primate follows a group of friends whose tropical vacation curdles into a primal horror-survival scenario. That’s the spine, and the marketing has leaned into the “vacation as trap” angle rather than over-explaining the mechanics.

Behind the camera, the biggest headline is Johannes Roberts in full author-mode, where he directs and co-writes the film (with Ernest Riera), and earns another credit as one of the film’s executive producers. Producing credits also include Walter Hamada (p.g.a.), John Hodges (p.g.a.), and Bradley Pilz. In terms of the film’s rating, Paramount has listed the film as R-rated with an 89-minute runtime, which is usually a good sign for this kind of lean, high-intensity creature/containment horror.

Casting-wise, the the film stars Johnny Sequoyah, Jessica Alexander, and Troy Kotsur, with additional billed cast including Victoria Wyant, Gia Hunter, Benjamin Cheng, Charlie Mann, and Tienne Simon.

With tickets now live, it’s a clear “watch this, then lock in your seat” play—and the timing suggests we’ll be seeing more short-form drops between now and opening weekend.
