The Mandalorian & Grogu Trailer Is a Shot of Pure Star Wars Adrenaline

Lucasfilm has dropped a new trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu, and it plays like a clear statement of intent: this is no longer a side-quest era. Din Djarin and Grogu are being pulled into higher-stakes work tied to the New Republic, with the footage emphasizing “keep-the-peace” urgency while still keeping one boot planted in the galaxy’s shadier corners.

The trailer also spotlights Sigourney Weaver’s new character, Colonel Ward, who appears to be one of the New Republic’s key operators in the film. The dynamic reads like a recruitment and a warning at the same time, with Din positioned as the kind of blunt instrument the government needs when diplomacy isn’t enough. That direction lines up with the film’s official setup, which frames the post-Empire galaxy as unstable, with Imperial warlords still scattered and the New Republic leaning on Din and Grogu to help keep things from sliding into another large-scale conflict.

But it wouldn’t be Mando without the underworld creeping in. The trailer teases heavy Hutt-world energy, including Rotta the Hutt (voiced by Jeremy Allen White) entering the mix, suggesting whatever Din’s being sent to do is going to require navigating crime syndicates as much as it does chasing targets.

And in classic trailer fashion, it teases one major moment for the long-running character arc: a brief image that shows Din unmasked, hinting that this story will force him into compromising his identity and creed.

The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters (including IMAX) on May 22, 2026.
