Toy Story 5 Trailer Brings Woody and Buzz Into the Screen Age

Pixar is officially back in playtime mode. The new Toy Story 5 trailer drops Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang into a problem that feels painfully current—toys competing with screens for a kid’s attention. This chapter leans into the idea Pixar has teased from the start, “Toy meets Tech,” and the new footage makes it clear the franchise is aiming for something more specific than a comfortable nostalgia lap.

The setup in the next film threads directly out of Toy Story 4. Jessie is now the de facto leader in Bonnie’s room, Buzz is still her ride-or-die, and Bonnie is older, busier, and harder to impress. Enter the new threat: Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet toy voiced by Greta Lee, who instantly becomes the center of Bonnie’s universe. In the trailer, Lilypad is less “evil villain” than relentless competitor, always on, always engaging, always winning the room by default.

That’s where the fun chaos comes in. Woody returns to the fold (and yes, he looks a little weathered in a way that feels intentional), while the story also introduces a swarm of Buzz Lightyear figures: 50 commemorative Buzzes stuck in toy mode and searching for Star Command, a premise that looks like it’ll deliver both action and franchise-grade slapstick.

On the voice side, Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack are back as Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, with returning favorites like Tony Hale (Forky), Keanu Reeves (Duke Caboom), Annie Potts (Bo Peep), and John Ratzenberger (Hamm). New additions include Conan O’Brien as a potty-training tech toy named Smarty Pants and Craig Robinson as Atlas, a GPS hippo. Behind the camera, Andrew Stanton directs with McKenna Harris co-directing, and Randy Newman returns to score his fifth Toy Story feature.

Toy Story 5 opens exclusively in theaters on June 19, 2026.
