From F.I.S.T. to Zoopunk: TiGames Unveils Its Next Torch City Adventure
TiGames is going back to Torch City, and this time it’s trading Metroidvania corridors for full 3D chaos in the sky. The studio behind F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch has officially unveiled Zoopunk, a new “animal punk” action RPG prequel, with an extended announcement trailer debuting during Xbox’s Partner Preview showcase.
Set decades before F.I.S.T., Zoopunk takes place at the dawn of the First Torch War. The trailer lays out the premise in broad strokes: a breakthrough known as “fire seed energy” jump-starts rapid industrial growth, then spirals out of control, awakening discarded machinery into self-aware war engines. Those machines quickly turn on their creators and build a brutal mechanical empire, forcing rival animal factions to band together or be wiped out.
Gameplay-wise, the first look makes it clear this isn’t just F.I.S.T. in 3D. Players control a small squad of anthropomorphic heroes led by Rayton the Rabbit, now a veteran swordsman instead of a lone brawler. He’s joined by Braton, a rhino with a massive flaming blade, and Trixie, a nimble chipmunk who chains parkour-style moves into aerial attacks. The trailer cuts between cinematic story beats and long stretches of combat: juggling enemies with melee combos, swapping between characters mid-fight, and tearing through packs of machines in ruined streets, airship docks, and glowing industrial zones.
Visually, Zoopunk leans hard into dieselpunk spectacle. Torch City’s skyline is dotted with smokestacks and dirigibles, while the mechanical army ranges from rank-and-file bots to towering bosses that fill the screen. Fans of F.I.S.T. will recognize the world’s mix of cute character designs and grimy industrial detail, but the camera pullback, flashy finishers, and heavier emphasis on group combat give the prequel a more traditional character-action feel.
Zoopunk is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a release currently slated for 2027 but no firm date yet. For now, the announcement trailer does what it needs to by reintroducing Torch City, showing off the new combat elements, and making a solid case that this universe has room for more than one type of action game.
