SAW: Genesis Revealed as a 3v1 Multiplayer Horror Game

The SAW franchise is getting a new video game, and this time the terror is moving into asymmetrical multiplayer. Publisher Bloober Team and developers Broken Mirror Games and Anshar Studios have announced SAW: Genesis, a new 3v1 horror game set to launch first in Early Access for PC via Steam.

Rather than following John Kramer directly, SAW: Genesis goes back an entire century before Jigsaw. More specifically, the game is set in the grim aftermath of World War I and centers on a brutal trial where three players take on the role of the Accused, while one player becomes the Judge, an early architect of the philosophy that would later define the franchise’s infamous traps.

A New Kind of SAW Trial

The setup gives SAW: Genesis a different structure from the franchise’s previous game adaptations. As the Accused, players must work together to complete challenges, search for items, collect keys, and survive a trap-filled maze before time runs out. Each match takes place on procedurally generated maps, meaning routes and conditions can shift from one trial to the next.

The Judge, meanwhile, is designed as more than a distant game master. Players in that role can use perks, traps, hidden corridors, a noise-detection map, and other tools to manipulate the match from the shadows. The Steam listing notes that the Judge is physically vulnerable, which means the role relies on planning and control rather than brute force.

That dynamic seems built around the core tension of SAW: survival through impossible choices. The game’s trap system can force the Accused to decide whether to sacrifice part of themselves to escape or rely on teammates to save them. Those consequences can affect the rest of the match, changing how players move, solve puzzles, and fight back.

The Early Access version is planned to include the core gameplay systems, two locations, two Judges, and four Accused when it becomes playable later in 2026. The developers also say the full version is expected to expand that content, with more characters, more locations, and additional balancing shaped by community feedback.

A final release date has not been announced yet, but SAW: Genesis is officially coming first to Early Access on PC via Steam.
