Based on Takeru Hokazono’s manga, which is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, the upcoming series will be produced by Cypic, with Shochiku and CyberAgent leading the production committee. The announcement also launched the anime’s official website and social channels, giving fans their first formal look at the adaptation through a teaser visual and trailer.

The teaser introduces the world of Kagurabachi through its central image of swordcraft, revenge and supernatural violence. The footage highlights the forge, katana imagery and the series’ blend of modern Japanese settings with darker, more mythic action elements. And, according to the official announcement, the trailer is meant to capture the beginning of Chihiro Rokuhira’s revenge story and the “weighty atmosphere” of the manga’s world.

The Story, Cast, and Staff

Kagurabachi follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a boy training under his father, Kunishige, a renowned swordsmith. Their life is destroyed when the mysterious sorcerer organization Hishaku attacks, stealing six powerful Enchanted Blades and tearing Chihiro away from the peaceful future he once imagined. After the attack, Chihiro takes up Enten, the seventh Enchanted Blade left behind by his father, and sets out on a path of revenge.

The anime will be directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi, with Keigo Sasaki handling character design. Taihi Kimura will voice Chihiro Rokuhira. The original work is credited to Hokazono, with Cypic producing the animation.

The announcement also confirmed a Kagurabachi World Tour, which will begin in summer 2026 and include exclusive screenings of the first 20 minutes of Episode 1 at venues around the world. The tour is expected to conclude in Japan in spring 2027 with the first full-length screening of the premiere episode before the anime’s official broadcast.

The manga has quickly become one of Weekly Shonen Jump’s most closely watched newer titles, with the official announcement describing it as a “next-generation flagship title.” The release also notes that the manga will surpass 4 million copies in circulation, including digital editions, with the release of Volume 11 in Japan.

Kagurabachi is set to begin broadcasting and streaming globally in April 2027.
