The First Until Dawn Trailer Showcases an Ambitious New Horror Story
The highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular horror game Until Dawn has finally released its first official trailer, teasing audiences with a high-stakes genre adventure like no other.
In this cinematic adaptation, the original narrative follows Clover (played by Ella Rubin), a young woman who ventures into a remote valley with her friends one year after her sister Melanie (Maia Mitchell) mysteriously disappears. As they begin to explore an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered, only to wake up and relive the same night over and over again.
Each time, the threats seemingly become more terrifying, and the only way to escape is to survive ‘until dawn.’ Described as an "R-rated love letter to the horror genre," the movie—directed by popular genre filmmaker David F. Sandberg—expands on the universe of the game while introducing original characters, storylines, and plenty of compelling twists.
In addition to Rubin, the film boasts an impressive cast, including Michael Cimino as Max, Ji-young Yoo as Megan, Odessa A'zion as Nina, and Belmont Cameli as Abel. Peter Stormare, who voiced Dr. Alan J. Hill in the original game, reprises his role in a new capacity, adding a familiar face for fans of the game. The Until Dawn screenplay is penned by Gary Dauberman, with a previous draft by Blair Butler. The film is produced by Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems, PlayStation Productions, Vertigo Entertainment, Coin Operated, and Mangata.
Until Dawn is currently slated for a theatrical release on April 25, 2025—so fans of the game and horror enthusiasts alike can look forward to a terrifying and thrilling cinematic experience that honors the spirit of the original gameplay while delivering a trove of new scares and non-stop suspense.
