Ready or Not 2 Trailer Brings Samara Weaving Back to the Game and Pits Her Against Sarah Michelle Gellar

The first trailer for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come wastes no time throwing Grace back into hell. We pick up almost immediately after the flaming finale of the 2019 film, with Samara Weaving’s bloodied bride barely patched up before she’s informed there’s a “next level” to the game she thought she’d survived. This time, the stakes are somehow bigger and nastier: Grace is told that four rival dynasties are now hunting her to claim the High Seat of the Council, a shadowy power position that basically rules the world, and her younger sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) has been dragged into the crosshairs with her.

The trailer sketches out that new mythology in sharp, brutal bursts. We see Grace and Faith literally chained together, scrambling through mansions, courtyards, and ritual chambers while masked hunters and extremely well-dressed weirdos descend on them. The tone is still very Radio Silence: glossy and baroque one second, splattered in red the next. Set to Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” the footage cuts between black-comedy sight gags, explosive body horror (people quite literally pop), and glimpses of ornate, cult-like council rooms where the rules of this bigger, global game start to come into focus.

The sequel also shows off its expanded ensemble, and the trailer makes it pretty clear that Sarah Michelle Gellar is here to do more than just drop in for a cameo. As Ursula Danforth, matriarch of one of the hunting families, she’s already giving full scream-queen genre intensity, including a kick-ass confrontation with Grace. Paired with what feels like a subtle Buffy-flavored wink buried in the chaos, it’s also enough to suggest Ursula could end up as one of the film’s standout characters.

Behind the camera, original directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett reunite with writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, and they’re working with a beefed-up supporting cast that includes Elijah Wood, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, David Cronenberg, and more.

From the trailer alone, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come looks bigger, meaner, and proudly unhinged, while pushing Grace into a much wider conspiracy. The film is set to hit theaters on April 10, 2026, from Searchlight Pictures.
