Obsession Teaser Turns a Customer Service Call into Pure Horror
The new teaser for Curry Barker’s Obsession keeps things stripped down to a single nightmare moment: one guy, one phone call, one uneasy hold line. We drop in on Bear (Michael Johnston) alone with the fallout of his “One Wish Willow” toy wish, dialing the customer service number printed on the box and waiting for someone on the other end to tell him what he’s actually done.
From there, the teaser never cuts away. Instead of a montage of kills or big spoiler shots, we stay with Bear as an ominously calm headset voice walks him through the fine print. That’s when he finally asks the thing that’s been eating at him: are Nikki’s feelings actually real, or did he just rewire her life without consent? The way the operator answers reframes the whole premise in a few lines, hinting that the film isn’t just about supernatural payback, but about what “real” love means once choice has been taken off the table.
It’s a clean way to introduce a story that could easily be sold as a simple “be careful what you wish for” ride. Conceptually, Obsession follows Bear, a hopeless romantic who breaks the mysterious One Wish Willow to win over his childhood friend Nikki (Inde Navarrette), only to realize that getting exactly what he wanted has turned their relationship into something warped and dangerous.
Outside the teaser, the film already comes with strong reception: it premiered in TIFF’s Midnight Madness program, has played festivals like Fantastic Fest and Sitges, and currently sits at around 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. Focus Features will release Obsession in U.S. theaters on May 15, 2026, with Blumhouse on board and Jason Blum serving as an executive producer. For now, that single phone call is enough to set the tone.
