Marvel Studios Unveils Exciting New Thunderbolts* Footage During the Super Bowl
Marvel Studios made a spectacular entrance during Super Bowl LIX with the release of a new trailer for the highly anticipated Thunderbolts* film—setting the stage for what promises to be an explosive addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This film’s fresh footage cautiously reveals that the team has been assembled to tackle a serious threat to the world, and its one that the Avengers are clearly unable to handle.
The trailer also reaffirms to detail-oriented fans that Bob Reynolds, played by Lewis Pullman, is making his MCU debut as the superpowered being Sentry. And for those of you who are unaware of what that means, in Marvel literature, Sentry possesses the power of one million exploding suns but also harbors a dangerous alter-ego called The Void. So naturally, as you may have noticed, the trailer hints that The Void will be the film's primary antagonist.
The Thunderbolts* film brings together a unique ensemble cast, featuring Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
Thunderbolts* is already expected to be one of the most exciting releases of the year, perfectly teasing a mix of frenetic action, compelling melodrama, and quotable one-liners. Directed by Jake Schreier, the next chapter of the MCU titled Thunderbolts* is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
