Enjoy a Blend of Love and Terror with ‘Heart Eyes’ on Valentine’s Day 2025

Valentine's Day is about to get a whole lot scarier. On Halloween, horror lovers were offered their first glimpse at Heart Eyes, an upcoming horror film that intends to turn the romantic holiday upside down. Conceptually, the horror rom-com flick centers itself on the "Heart Eyes Killer," a mysterious figure who has terrorized romantic couples on Valentine's Day for years. This year, the killer mistakenly targets two co-workers who are working late on Valentine’s Day, believing them to be a couple. The pair must survive the night as they are relentlessly pursued by this heartless villain.

Heart Eyes, (2025) | Sony Pictures Entertainment

The cast includes Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding, Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, Devon Sawa, and Jordana Brewster, bringing a mix of fresh and familiar genre faces to the screen. The official teaser trailer (included below) properly sets the tone with an eerie atmosphere and features an ominous cover of Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes off You" — displaying some Friday the 13th or My Bloody Valentine-style carnage.

The film is helmed by director Josh Ruben and produced by Spyglass Media Group. The script is crafted by Phillip Murphy, Michael Kennedy, and Christopher Landon. Republic Pictures has secured the global distribution rights, excluding the United States and Canada. Meanwhile, Sony Pictures has acquired the North American distribution rights and scheduled the film for a theatrical release on February 7, 2025.

From what we’ve seen so far, the film is poised to be a standout addition to the horror genre through its themes of love and terror. Just in time for Valentine’s Day.
