Nutsa Buzaladze's career has progressed through a series of significant international performances. Originating from Georgia, her talent quickly propelled her into the spotlight through various high-profile competitions—including early appearances on Georgia's Got Talent to later stages like American Idol and even Eurovision, where she's consistently demonstrated a strong vocal presence and stage command. And, naturally, these experiences have been instrumental in shaping her approach to performance and her solo career.
Since proving herself across these massive stages, her established musical foundation blends elements of Georgian tradition with modern pop, a combination showcased in her 2022 album, which featured songs in both Georgian and English. In addition to embracing her background, this bilingual approach further highlights her desire to connect with a broad audience while maintaining her cultural identity along the way. Now, the competition veteran is breaking down her high-stakes journey and what she’s hoping to manifest next.
Your journey has spanned multiple countries and competitions. What has been the most significant turning point in your career so far?
Nutsa: One of the most significant turning points in my career was my experience on American Idol. It was a global stage that challenged me, pushed me beyond my limits, and introduced me to a whole new audience. Competing in such a high-pressure environment helped me grow not only as a performer but also as an artist with a stronger sense of identity. It reinforced my belief in resilience, hard work, and staying true to my passion, no matter the obstacles. That experience, combined with my background in international competitions, has shaped me into the artist I am today, always evolving, always striving for more.
Other than American Idol, you also competed on Eurovision. How do these high-pressure environments shape you as an artist?
Nutsa: Competitions like American Idol and Eurovision have been incredible learning experiences for me. They’ve taught me how to handle high-pressure situations, stay focused, and deliver my best performance no matter what. When you’re on a global stage, every detail matters. your vocals, stage presence, mindset, and even how you connect with the audience.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is resilience. In these environments, you face intense criticism and competition, but you have to keep pushing forward, believe in yourself, and stay true to your artistry. I’ve also learned the importance of adaptability. things don’t always go as planned, but being able to adjust in the moment is what makes a great performer. These experiences have shaped me into a more confident, fearless artist, and I carry those lessons with me every time I step on stage.
Your performances are often described as having powerful vocals with dynamic stage presence. That being said, how would you describe your own unique artistic style?
Nutsa: I would describe my artistic style as a fusion of power, emotion, and raw energy. When I step on stage, it’s not just me anymore. it feels like I enter another world, a space where nothing else exists except the music and the connection with the audience. It’s almost magical.
The energy I bring to a live performance is different. it’s not just about singing; it’s about telling a story, expressing every emotion, every experience I’ve been through. The stage allows me to pour my heart out, and when I see the audience engaged, when I feel that chemistry between us, it’s like we’re creating something beyond just a performance, it’s an exchange of energy, a shared experience. That’s the true art for me—turning feelings into music and letting the audience feel every part of it with me.
Your impressive 2022 album featured songs in both Georgian and English. In what ways would you say your cultural roots have prominently influenced your music?
Nutsa: My cultural roots are a huge part of my artistry. Growing up in Georgia, I was surrounded by powerful vocal techniques and deep, emotional storytelling, which naturally influence my music.
Singing in both Georgian and English allows me to blend my roots with global sounds, creating something unique. I stay true to where I come from while evolving as an artist, making sure my music connects with people emotionally, no matter the language.
Lastly, what are some of the biggest goals you have for yourself in this next chapter of your career?
Nutsa: My biggest goal in this next chapter is to elevate my music to a whole new level, to expand my sound, reach more people, and step into my fullest artistic potential. I’m working with some of the best in the industry, and I feel like I’m stepping into a new era of my career.
Performing on bigger stages, pushing creative boundaries, and eventually winning a Grammy are all part of the vision. But beyond that, I want my music to truly move people, to create songs that make you feel something real and leave a lasting impact. This is just the beginning of something big!
