Originally from La Grange, Tennessee, Madison Elise Rogers’s foray into acting began as a means to overcome her innate shyness as a child. However, this passion soon blossomed into a promising career, leading her to the bustling chaos of Los Angeles where she’s only just beginning to make a name for herself.
As of now, one of Rogers’s standout roles has been her portrayal of Lindy in the Paramount+ series 1923, a celebrated prequel to the acclaimed Yellowstone series. Set against the backdrop of the early 20th century, 1923 explores the origins of the Dutton family and their struggles to maintain their ranch amidst a rapidly changing American West. And in the first season, Rogers’s charismatic character, Lindy, made a striking impression and quickly became a perspective worth following. Fortunately, as the show finally returns for its second season, audiences can anticipate even more of Lindy's journey and the intriguing developments ahead.
When it comes to your role as Lindy in 1923, what would you say are some of her defining traits?
Madison Elise Rogers: Lindy is observant, resilient, and more complex than she might seem. She’s learned how to navigate a world that isn’t always kind to women like her, relying on adaptability to survive.
In what ways did you initially prepare for the role, given its period-piece setting and unique characters?
Madison Elise Rogers: I spent time researching the realities of women in her position during the 1920s, especially in places like Montana. The costume fittings were incredibly helpful in shaping how she presents herself physically.
You were carefully introduced to the series’ first season, and now you’ll be appearing in a majority of the second season. How has your character evolved, and what can fans expect from Lindy in the upcoming episodes?
Madison Elise Rogers: Lindy undergoes a significant transformation this season, and her journey takes a much darker, more intense turn!
Considering that 1923 is a prequel to the popular series Yellowstone, how does it feel to be part of such a beloved franchise—and how do you think 1923 adds to the overall story?
Madison Elise Rogers: It’s amazing to be part of a world that so many people connect with. What makes 1923 stand out is how it adds so much depth to the Yellowstone story, showing the struggles and sacrifices that came before. It really highlights how much resilience it took to build the life we see in Yellowstone.
Looking ahead, is there a type of character, genre, or story that you’d like to manifest in the future?
Madison Elise Rogers: I’d love to do a psychological thriller. Something that keeps people guessing and plays with perception. I’m really drawn to characters who aren’t entirely good or bad, where you’re not sure if you can trust them.
