Clockwork Girl English Dub Trailer Sets U.S. Theatrical Dates
Kite and Mezzo Forte director Yasuomi Umetsu’s long-teased original project Virgin Punk: Clockwork Girl just dropped an English dub trailer, and with it, U.S. theatrical plans.
Set in 2099, the story hinges on Somadea—medical android tech that helps humanity conquer illness but supercharges violent crime as a side effect. Bounty hunter Ubu Kamigori makes her living tracking the worst of it, until a figure from her past—Mr. Elegance—turns up in her apartment and upends the job. The new trailer comes alongside an English cast reveal, including Xanthe Huynh who leads as Ubu Kamigori, with David Cooley as Mr. Elegance, Daman Mills as Lewis Gaudi, Suzie Yeung as Maggie, Brent Mukai as Tommy J, Erica Mendez as Noa Andriette, and Risa Mei as Vespa.
Aniplex of America will officially bring the 35-minute film to cinemas nationwide on November 11 and 13, positioning the first of several Virgin Punk installments for a rare big-screen bow before a wider rollout. Produced by Studio Shaft, Clockwork Girl marks Umetsu’s first time leading a full project since 2014’s Wizard Barristers, and it plays like a compact calling card through sleek character work, crisp gunplay, and a neon-sleek near future.
For fans of 1990s and early 2000s-leaning genre polish (tight edits, grounded choreography, and a punchy score), Clockwork Girl looks built to hit the spot, even at its lean runtime. Tickets and participating theaters can be found here—and make sure to check out the trailer below.
