Why We’re Excited for Season 3 of MGM’s Visionary Series, From

As we eagerly await the return of MGM’s spine-chilling series From, it’s extremely apparent that we’re finally inching our way closer to more answers and exceptional character stories. Because, for two seasons, the horror drama has captivated audiences with its intricate plot, dynamic characters, and relentless use of suspense.

With that in mind, here are the three most compelling reasons why we believe the third season already promises to be an exhilarating continuation of this gripping genre series.

The Return of Several Well-Crafted Characters

One of the most exciting aspects of From is its rich tapestry of characters, each with their own unique backstory and development arc. For example, just to name a few standout roles, we have:

  • Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau): As the town’s sheriff, Boyd is a natural leader who has faced numerous challenges while trying to protect the residents from the nightmarish creatures. His resilience and determination make his journey compelling, especially as he grapples with the moral dilemmas of leadership in such a dire situation.

  • Victor (Scott McCord): Victor’s mysterious past and his knowledge of the town’s dark secrets make him one of the most intriguing characters. His cryptic warnings and eerie-turned-sincere demeanor add a layer that others don’t quite offer, leaving fans eager to learn more about his backstory and his role in the unfolding events.

  • Sara Myers (Avery Konrad): Sara’s character has undergone one of the most surprising transformations in the series. Initially seen as irredeemable due to her violent actions under the influence of mysterious forces, Sara has evolved into a vulnerable, emotionally traumatized figure in the town’s struggle for survival. Additionally, her unique connection to the supernatural elements of the town, combined with her personal redemption arc, has made her a frontrunner in the series.

  • Kenny Liu (Ricky He): Kenny’s evolution from a loyal deputy to a more assertive and independent character has been fascinating to watch. His relationship with Boyd and his own personal struggles add depth to his character, making viewers root for his success and survival.

  • Donna Raines (Elizabeth Saunders): As the tough and pragmatic leader of Colony House, Donna’s no-nonsense attitude and protective nature have made her a fan favorite. Her interactions with other characters, especially during moments of crisis, highlight her strength and vulnerability.

  • Jade Herrera (David Alpay): Jade’s transformation from a skeptical newcomer to a key player in the town’s survival efforts has been a highlight of the series. His intelligence and resourcefulness, combined with his sarcastic wit, provide both tension and much-needed comic relief.

  • Ellis Stevens (Corteon Moore): Boyd’s son, Ellis, has had a tumultuous journey, dealing with the loss of his mother and the complexities of his relationship with his father. His emotional depth and resilience make his character arc particularly compelling — especially given his attempts to recalibrate his partner’s perception of their reality.

  • Kristi Miller (Chloe Van Landschoot): Kristi, a third-year medical student, became the de facto doctor for the town after getting trapped. Her medical expertise and compassion make her a crucial figure in the community’s survival. Separated from her fiancée, Marielle (another solid addition), Kristi’s personal struggles and professional responsibilities add depth to her character, highlighting her resilience and dedication

  • Julie Matthews (Hannah Cheramy): Julie, the teenage daughter of Jim and Tabitha Matthews, struggles to adapt to the harsh realities of the mysterious town (offering some of the most unconventionally hilarious reactions ever). But now that she’d finally figured out how to navigate things more effectively, she’s also grown into a strong series asset.

  • Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno): Tabitha’s journey has been one of the most emotionally charged in the series. As a mother grappling with the loss of her child and the strain it has put on her marriage, her character brings a profound sense of grief and determination. Her discovery of the mysterious tunnels and her encounter with ‘The Boy in White’ have added layers of intrigue to her storyline, making her a pivotal character in the unfolding mystery. And now that she made it back to the real world — we have a few questions!

These characters, with their intricate relationships and personal growth, are the definitive heart of From. Because of that, their return in the third season promises to bring more drama, conflict, and emotional moments that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. And that’s not even the entire roster!

The Mystery Unfolds

One of the most captivating elements of From is its central mystery: the town itself. Season two ended with several tantalizing clues that suggest a possible way out and confirmed that the characters are indeed alive, raising the stakes for the upcoming season.

And obviously, the enigmatic nature of the town, where anyone can enter but no one can leave, has been a source of endless speculation and intrigue. Given the trajectory of the series and its well-paced reveals, season three is definitely expected to delve deeper into these mysteries, providing more answers and possibly revealing the town’s true nature.

Furthermore, the cliffhanger ending of season two, where Tabitha was pushed out of a window by ‘The Boy in White,’ left fans with numerous questions. What does that imply about why they are there? What is the significance of ‘The Boy in White’? These unanswered questions set the stage for a thrilling exploration of the town’s secrets in the weeks to come.

So clearly, as the characters continue to search for a way out, viewers can expect more twists and turns that will keep them guessing.

More Potential for Creature Carnage

From has never shied away from showcasing the terrifying creatures that emerge at night, and the upcoming season is presumably set to up the ante in terms of creature carnage — considering that the creatures, with their malevolent intent and gruesome methods, have been a constant threat to the town’s residents.

FROM, (MGM+)

The Colony House massacre, one of the most memorable sequences in the series, demonstrated the creatures’ capacity for terror and violence. As the characters become more aware of the creatures’ capabilities and potential weaknesses, the potential for even more intense and horrifying encounters increases.

The notion of an increased focus on creature carnage will undoubtedly lead to more adrenaline-pumping scenes and heart-stopping moments. And that’s something we’d like to see!

Season three of MGM’s hit series From will be available to stream on MGM+ on September 22nd.
