A24 and Peacock Unveil First Look at Friday the 13th Prequel Crystal Lake

The Friday the 13th franchise is returning to Crystal Lake, this time through the eyes of the woman whose grief helped ignite its bloody history. Peacock has officially released the first teaser and images for Crystal Lake, an eight-episode prequel series starring Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees and produced by A24.

Set nearly a year after the death of her young son, Jason, the series finds Pam struggling to move beyond the tragedy that has consumed her life. Jason, described as a sickly child, drowned in the town lake, leaving his mother unable to escape the grief surrounding his death. When two strangers arrive at her door searching for information about her past, their questions set off a disturbing chain of events that begins to unsettle the wider Crystal Lake community.

Pamela Voorhees Takes Center Stage

Created by Brad Caleb Kane, whose credits include It: Welcome to Derry, Tokyo Vice, and Warrior, Crystal Lake will explore a character who has remained central to the mythology of Friday the 13th despite often being overshadowed by her hockey-masked, machete-wielding son. The story appears prepared to examine Pamela’s transformation while building a larger mystery around her identity, history, and relationship with the town.

In addition to Cardellini, who leads the cast, the ensemble includes William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Callum Vinson, Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik are also slated to appear in recurring roles. Michael Lennox directs the first three episodes, followed by Celine Held and Logan George for Episodes 4 through 6. Quyen Tran will direct the final two installments. Each episode will run approximately 60 minutes.

Even though we’re only getting brief glimpses so far (which is much better for the horror genre anyway), the newly released teaser already looks perfectly suited to the classic Friday the 13th atmosphere. Mist hangs over the moonlit lake as the footage cuts between camp-counselor carnage, mounting dread, and a grieving Pamela Voorhees whose sorrow is sure to fuel a bloodbath before it comes to an end. So, between its ominous imagery, franchise history, and the creative pairing of A24 and Peacock, there is already plenty to suggest that a thrilling new genre hit is on the horizon.

All eight episodes of Crystal Lake premiere Thursday, October 15, 2026, exclusively on Peacock.
