Dexter: Original Sin Trailer Sheds Light on the Infamous Character’s Origin Story
Showtime has just released the much-anticipated trailer for its new series, Dexter: Original Sin, a prequel to the beloved series Dexter. The trailer, which dropped today, offers a glimpse into the early life of America's favorite serial killer, Dexter Morgan, now portrayed by Patrick Gibson.
Set in 1991 Miami, Dexter: Original Sin follows a young Dexter as he transitions from a forensics student to an avenging serial killer. The series delves into Dexter's formative years, exploring how he learns to channel his bloodthirsty urges with the guidance of his father, Harry, played by Golden Globe winner Christian Slater.
The trailer showcases Dexter's struggle to balance his extralegal activities with his new forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department; as he grapples with his inner darkness, Dexter adopts a Code designed to help him eliminate those who deserve it without getting caught by law enforcement.
The series boasts an impressive cast, including Molly Brown, Christina Milian, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, and special guest stars the legendary Sarah Michelle Gellar and Patrick Dempsey. Michael C. Hall, who voiced Dexter's inner monologue in the original series, returns to lend his voice to the character in this prequel.
Dexter: Original Sin is executive produced by Clyde Phillips, Scott Reynolds, Michael C. Hall, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. The series is produced by SHOWTIME Studios and Counterpart Studios, with Robert Lloyd Lewis serving as producer and Michael Lehmann as the directing executive producer.
The 10-episode thriller is set to premiere on December 13 on Paramount+ with Showtime, and will also air on Showtime's linear channel on December 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Fans of the original series and newcomers alike are sure to be captivated by this dark and thrilling journey into Dexter's past.
