Big Little Lies Star Says Season 3 is in Development
After months of speculation around the potential return of HBO’s juggernaut drama series Big Little Lies, actress, and producer Nicole Kidman has officially confirmed that author Liane Moriarty is working on new material, paving the way for another installment of the hit series.
Confirmed during a recent interview for Vanity Fair, Kidman, joined by co-star Reese Witherspoon, teased fans with the promise of more drama to come. "We're moving fast and furious. And Liane is delivering the book. And we're in good shape. So the rest is…We need to shut up because there's this whole thing that you should never talk about something until you've done it.” Kidman then continues, “Because if you talk about doing it, it's the dopamine hit of doing it. You feel like you've done it. It's a scientific study."
Elsewhere in the interview, Witherspoon confessed her concern about finding the right audience for the series, while Kidman and Dern viewed it from different angles. Witherspoon's skepticism was ultimately proven wrong as the show garnered critical acclaim and a loyal fan base. And every week, fans were guaranteed to be gasping at scenes like Meryl Streep’s viral dinner table moment, or Dern’s rather short fuse. Now we just have to wait and see if the next story entails a jailbreak, murder spree, or the more likely scenario — several lies.
Big Little Lies official synopsis: The apparently-perfect lives of upper-class mothers of students at a prestigious elementary school unravel to the point of murder when a single mother moves to their quaint California beach town.
The series’ first two seasons are currently available to stream on Max.
