American Horror Story Season 13 Update Reveals New Cast Member and Major Coven Clues

American Horror Story Season 13 already had fan attention thanks to its stacked returning cast, but Disney’s 2026 Upfront added a little more shape to the next installment. The presentation confirmed another new cast member, leaned into the show’s witchy imagery, and offered a brief official tease that points toward a season built around franchise history, familiar nightmares, and at least one major Coven-connected surprise. Here’s everything we know so far.

AHS 13 Is Bringing New Blood Into a Familiar World

The biggest new reveal from the Upfront was the addition of Paul Anthony Kelly, who joins American Horror Story after his breakout role as John F. Kennedy Jr. in Ryan Murphy’s Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette. Kelly appeared onstage alongside returning franchise names including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Billie Lourd, and Emma Roberts, with the reveal staged around hooded Druid-style robes and Kelly teasing that every nightmare needs “fresh blood.”

His casting adds another new face to a season already packed with familiar AHS players. Season 13 is set to feature Paulson, Peters, Bassett, Kathy Bates, Roberts, Lourd, Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, Jessica Lange, and Ariana Grande, making it one of the anthology’s most reunion-heavy installments in years. Rather than positioning the new season as a clean reset, FX appears to be leaning into the show’s own legacy, bringing back longtime favorites while introducing new energy through names like Kelly and Grande.

The official logline also gave fans more to work with. FX teased that “iconic horrors” will return to the “hallowed halls of 13,” while also telling viewers to light candles, draw pentagrams, and prepare for a “supreme surprise.” In other words, Season 13 will not only revisit past elements from the franchise but also lean heavily into witchcraft imagery and the mythology surrounding the Supreme.

That fits with what Ryan Murphy had already revealed before the Upfront. Murphy previously shared a first look at Paulson back as Cordelia Goode and confirmed that Robichaux Academy had been rebuilt. Emma Roberts has also been shown reprising Madison Montgomery, making the Coven connection much more concrete than a loose visual tease.

That detail matters because Coven remains one of the franchise’s most popular chapters, and Apocalypse later expanded its mythology by bringing those witches back into the larger AHS universe. With Robichaux Academy back in play, Cordelia and Madison confirmed, and the new logline directly teasing a Supreme-related surprise (please give us more Fiona Goode), Season 13 seems ready to revisit one of the show’s richest corners. And we couldn’t be more excited to see what that entails when the season drops this fall on FX.

Until then, revisit the last moment we saw the iconic Madison Montgomery in the clip below.
