Lady Gaga Announces New Album ‘Mayhem,’ Promising a Return to Dark Pop Roots

Lady Gaga has officially announced her highly anticipated seventh studio album, titled Mayhem, set to be released on March 7, 2025—nearly five years after her previous 2020 album Chromatica. And, based on Gaga’s recent statements, previously teased snippets, and the recent release of her single “Disease”, it’s apparent that Mayhem will mark a return to the darker, more emotional pop music that her earliest fans adored, while still incorporating an alternative edge that she’s extremely comfortable with.

The 14-track album includes previously released singles "Die With A Smile," featuring Bruno Mars (which also went No. 1 on Billboard), and "Disease," both of which offer a glimpse into the themes of chaos and transformation that run throughout the album.

A third single is expected to be unveiled at the Grammy Awards on February 2, 2025, further building anticipation for the full release the following month. While we’re not certain which single is coming next, we do have an official track list that promises plenty of uniquely named songs, and a collaboration other than Bruno Mars.

Mayhem Track List

  1. “Disease”

  2. “Abracadabra”

  3. “Garden of Eden”

  4. “Perfect Celebrity”

  5. “Vanish Into You”

Gaga has collaborated with a variety of talented producers and DJs on Mayhem, including Gesaffelstein and Andrew Watt. Given her track record, these new collaborations offer her the chance to explore new sonic landscapes and create a diverse and dynamic album; dually reminding listeners of Gaga’s penchant for reinventing herself in a fresh creative space.

In addition to the music itself, Gaga has also carefully teased the visual aesthetic of Mayhem, with appearances in Elle UK showcasing a '90s-inspired, high-fashion goth-glam look. This visual direction hints at the album's sonic content, suggesting a blend of nostalgia and modern innovation.

With her current passion for industrial dance music, emotional lyrics, and high-profile collaborations, Mayhem already promises to be a significant moment in Gaga's career and a treat for her dedicated fanbase.

While we’re waiting for Mayhem, make sure to check out Gaga’s latest video for “Disease”.
