FKA twigs and North West Release the Video for "Childlike Things"

FKA Twigs has released the music video for “Childlike Things,” a standout track from her third studio album, Eusexua, featuring an unexpected collaboration with 11-year-old North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Directed by Jordan Hemingway and written by acclaimed playwright Jeremy O. Harris, the eight-minute video blends cinematic storytelling with dynamic choreography, showcasing twigs’ signature avant-garde style. The visual stars twigs alongside North West, and filmmaker Kevin Smith, creating a quirky narrative about artistic integrity versus commercial pressure.

The video opens with twigs pitching her vision to a skeptical music executive, played by Smith, who dismisses her experimental sound as unmarketable, suggesting she “hook up with a rapper” to boost streams. Undeterred, twigs delivers a mesmerizing dance sequence, her movements doll-like and eerie against a dark green backdrop. The tone shifts as North West enters, introduced as a “sartorial goddess” and “truth teller.” Dressed in a white fur coat and silver accessories, North raps in Japanese—lines translating to “Hello, my name is North/From California to Tokyo/Jesus the King/Praise God”—infusing the track with youthful energy. Her cameo, paired with twigs’ intricate choreography, ultimately sways Smith’s character, who reluctantly admits, “Okay, it’s fire.”

“Childlike Things” holds personal significance for twigs, who wrote its lyrics at age 13, inspired by Where the Wild Things Are and dreams of stardom. She tapped North for the collaboration after admiring her confidence in interviews, noting on Instagram that the song needed “that tenacity” only an 11-year-old could bring. North’s verse, written by her, reflects her faith, complementing twigs’ themes of imagination and self-belief.
