tripleS Members Break Down the Group's Pre-Show Rituals, Upcoming Tour, and More

tripleS is a 24-member, fan-steered girl group from Modhaus, built on a modular system where members flow between full-team comebacks and constantly shifting sub-units. Their “Gravity” votes on the COSMO app let fans help decide everything from units to track priorities, turning the project into a living, participatory pop lab; which has quickly proven to be a massive success with listeners.

Fresh off their second full-group album ASSEMBLE25—led by the razor-sharp single “Are You Alive”—the group has since scaled their sound and visuals without losing the nimble unit chemistry that made early eras like AAA’s “Generation,” LOVElution’s “Girls’ Capitalism,” and EVOLution’s “Invincible” pop.

This fall, the new tripleS tour unit Alphie carries that momentum into North America on the <Alpha Percent> world tour, a set built for speed, choreography, and crowd interplay. Now, ahead of the group’s highly anticipated string of shows, we’re chatting with its current lineup about tour prep, music, and much more.

As of now, if you had to pick any tripleS track—whether it's an ASSEMBLE25 or a sub-unit cut—that reflects your personal artistry, what would you choose? And what about it feels most “you”?

YooYeon: I think that the song that suits tripleS and my identity the best is "Girls Never Die." ASSEMBLE24 is the first album we put out together as a full group of 24 girls who didn’t know each other before, and also I think it’s the song that showcases our message of "Don’t give up, even if you fall, rise again" in the most straightforward manner.

Kotone: I think it’s "Hit the Floor." To be honest, I was also considering "Girls Never Die" because the lyrics really reflect my own journey, but "Hit the Floor" concept was hip-hop which I like a lot, and also I was able to properly show my rap skills which our fans, WAV, really wanted to see for the very first time.

Nien: "Girls’ Capitalism." Not only is it my debut song, but I think it suits our image perfectly because of the bright atmosphere it exudes.

Lynn: I think it’s "Hit the Floor"! Our company chose me to be part of this unit, and I think that the song’s choreography and atmosphere really accentuates my strengths.

HaYeon: I think it’s a song called "Atmosphere." The atmosphere and choreography of this song suit me really well, and our fans as well as the members said that this track really brings out my presence the best.

ShiOn: "Non Scale." It’s because our fans started calling this song ShiOn Scale, and I think it shows off my vocal skills and tone very well.

ChaeWon: "추리소설 (Detective Soseol)." - It’s a track that matches my image well, and I feel it’s the concept I can express most authentically.

JiYeon: "Girls Never Die." As the final S24 member of tripleS, the phrase ‘One and Twenty-Four’ that symbolizes our group carries a very special meaning for me. Through "Girls Never Die" our 24 members were able to finally come together and make a full group debut, but also this song represents a key that finally opened the door to our dream of being K-pop idols. I believe this track reveals my raw, gem-like essence in the best way.

For fans who met you in the AAA/LOVElution/EVOLution eras, how has your performance evolved—from those early showcases to today’s full-scale tour?

YooYeon: I can definitely say that we are so much more confident and free on stage now, compared to our debut times. We have become much more skilled in expressing different emotions and tones through our performances.

Kotone: Nothing has changed in regards to wanting to have fun on stage, but in terms of dance and vocal abilities, I think we have improved a lot - our fans tell us that we have gotten a lot better. Personally, I think that I have found my own ways to appeal to the audiences and show my charms more skilfully.

Nien: Looking back at old videos, we are a lot more free on stage and our facial expressions have gotten much more natural. Also, these days when we're waiting for our performance and the fans are nearby, rather than feeling nervous like before, we enjoy these moments.

When it comes to touring, style is always a fun aspect of the performance for artists and fans. What aesthetics, motifs, or textures are you leaning into for this tour?

Lynn: On this tour we will be able to show you our cool, yet pretty sides.

HaYeon: While the last tour showcased outfits with a fresh and playful charm, this time the more polished and sophisticated styling will allow the performance to shine even brighter.

In terms of live performances, what are some of your individual pre-show habits that help you feel prepared?

YooYeon: There are moments when my head is full of thoughts, and suddenly turns empty - that’s how I know I’m ready.

Kotone: For me, when the excitement outweighs the nerves, that’s when I know I’m ready. I always try to keep a big mindset of enjoying the moment.

Nien: I always talk to myself right before I go on stage.

Lynn: I always warm up my body right before going on stage! When I get nervous my body freezes and I can’t dance well, so in order to calm the nerves down I do some stretches and warm up exercises!

HaYeon: I tend to repeat the parts that are the most difficult for me and keep practicing them right up until the moment I go on stage. Once I’m on stage, though, I focus more on communicating with the fans while performing

ShiOn: I warm up my body, my neck and do some stretching. When everything flows well on stage, it feels just like how I practiced, which gives me a sense of stability.

ChaeWon: Before I go on stage, I tend to do image training and reminders, mentally walking myself through the performance.

JiYeon: I perform at my best when my body carries the right balance of strength. If I’m lacking energy, I wake up my muscles with light jogging or simple exercises. On the other hand, if I have too much tension, I calm myself through stretching to prepare for the stage.

What would you say makes this group of eight feel like a balanced tour selection (do you each bring a specific quality, blend particularly well, etc.)?

Kotone: Many of us promoted in the same units before, or even just practiced together in different pairings, that’s why the eight of us were able to prepare for this tour smoothly while looking out for one another. While practicing for this tour, I felt how great the teamwork was. Even though this combination of members might feel unexpected, the chemistry within it is strong, and I think that’s what makes it special.

ShiOn: We are all almost the same height, and I think the overall balance works really well, both in terms of performance and skills.

ChaeWon: We all have different positions within the group, our characters are also different, so I believe we are able to show you many different sides.

JiYeon: Since our team is made up of members who have toured before and those who haven’t, the experienced members can show a relaxed confidence that comes from the familiarity, while the newer members can bring out the fresh charm of their first tour. By combining those strengths, I think we’ll be able to create well-balanced and exciting performances. As for me, since this is also my first overseas tour, I want to give audiences who are seeing me live for the first time a new impression that feels different from what they’ve only seen online.

Finally, what do you want WAV to feel as they walk out of the venue after this tour?

YooYeon: After seeing this concert, I hope that our WAV think ‘Wow, tripleS has improved yet again!”. Also, I hope we can enjoy this time together, and feel happy in that moment.

Kotone: “I’m glad they went on tour”, “I’m so glad to be a tripleS fan”. I am putting a lot of effort, so our fans can think like this.

Nien: I hope that our fans can feel the energy and love that I strive to show them, and that we just enjoy the moment together.

Lynn: "It was so fun! Wow, tripleS is really the best" - I hope they think that!!!

HaYeon: I hope that our fans can feel the energy we strive to deliver, and also witness our growth!

ShiOn: I hope the audience will want to see us again, feel our bond growing closer, and think of it as a performance worth remembering. I also hope that, even just for a moment, their stress and worries can drift away while watching the show.

ChaeWon: I hope that our fans would want to see this concert again.

JiYeon: I hope WAV who have only been supporting us online from afar can finally feel the excitement of being there in person. tripleS is a group with infinite possibilities, so I also hope they’ll fall into our endless charm and experience limitless happiness.
