HEYOON is back, and she's bringing the heat. This global pop star, known for her captivating stage presence and commitment to inclusivity, has just released her highly anticipated second solo single, "ASAP," a fiery collaboration with New Jersey rapper Chris Patrick.

From its visuals to embedded themes, "ASAP" captures the thrilling intensity of reckless love, telling the story of an independent woman momentarily surrendering to desire. HEYOON's dedication to representation shines through in the music video, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Geerten Harmens—intentionally featuring a diverse cast of dancers as part of her commitment to celebrate individuality and the universal reach of music.

And after honing her skills during her five years with the global pop group Now United, HEYOON is fully embracing her creative autonomy, exploring new sonic territories, and preparing to position herself as a global pop powerhouse.

"ASAP" was described as a "bold and flirty anthem about the irresistible pull of passion." Can you elaborate on the inspiration behind the song and what specific emotions or experiences you channeled while creating it?

HEYOON: I think it’s freeing to be vulnerable enough to be so straight up about the reckless love you have for someone. I’ve def experienced that and I think people can relate to their own experience of strong desire!

The song features a dynamic collaboration with Chris Patrick. How did this collaboration come about, and what was the highlight of getting to work with him?

HEYOON: I’ve been a fan of Chris—he’s a super talented and humble artist. He’s been so collaborative, so it’s been a smooth process. It was so nice having him here in Seoul to shoot the MV & performance video together!

The music video for "ASAP" was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Geerten Harmens. What was your initial vision for the visual representation of the song?

HEYOON: Geerten is amazing with his dreamy visuals and we had the best vibes on set! We had this idea to dig deeper for the MV storyline and wanted to bring in the message of self love also.

How did the final result of the music video compare to that vision or intention? Was there anything that surprised you in the end?

HEYOON: It was amazing to see everything come to life. Some acting was required for me because the VFX work came after. The whole team killed it!

"ASAP" follows your successful debut solo single, "Pivot," featuring Armani White. How do you feel your sound and artistry have evolved between these two releases?

HEYOON: I have a lot of unreleased music that I’m excited to slowly share with the world! I’m definitely in the middle of the process of introducing my sound as solo artist HEYOON. I’m looking forward to growth and shaping my sound as I go!

What are you exploring or experimenting with now that you're establishing yourself as a solo artist?

HEYOON: I’m learning how to be more vulnerable with my art every day! I’m always open to working with different creatives and I’ve been pulling inspiration from my younger self and everything I’m experiencing now—I’m on a whole new journey of evolving and shaping my artistry.

After spending five years with Now United, what are the biggest challenges and rewards of being in full control of your creative direction?

HEYOON: I think being able to have control itself has both sides because it requires vulnerability—it’s challenging and freeing at the same time! I’ve learned so much throughout my experience being in Now United and it’s so exciting I get to continue this journey with my fans!
