Shadows of the 20th Ward: Tokyo Ghoul Comes to Dead by Daylight
The Entity's realm is about to be ravaged by the terrifying power of the Ghoul, the new Killer arriving in Dead by Daylight's highly anticipated Tokyo Ghoul collaboration. Behaviour Interactive has even revealed the Ghoul's unique abilities and perks, offering a glimpse into the chilling gameplay experience that awaits.
The Ghoul's Abilities
The Ghoul's primary power, "One-Eyed Terror," centers around the Kagune, the Ghoul's signature predatory tentacles. The "Kagune Leap" ability allows the Ghoul to charge and launch these tentacles, rapidly propelling them towards any vertical surface within range. This mobility is further enhanced by the ability to perform a second consecutive Kagune Leap, or to initiate a cooldown period.
The Ghoul's attack pattern is a strategic dance of leaps and grabs. A successful grab-attack, performed during a second consecutive leap, inflicts damage, Deep Wounds, and a "Kagune Mark" on Survivors. This grab-attack also triggers "Enraged Mode," a state of heightened aggression.
"Enraged Mode" elevates the Ghoul's predatory prowess, allowing for up to three consecutive Kagune Leaps and faster vaulting over obstacles when targeting Survivors. This mode remains active as long as Survivors bear the Kagune Mark. Marked Survivors can remove the mark by fully Mending their wounds or by being downed. The Ghoul cannot grab-attack marked Survivors. Enraged Mode ends after a countdown once no marked survivors are present.
The Ghoul's Perks
The Ghoul's arsenal is further augmented by the following three new perks:
Hex: Nothing But Misery: After damaging Survivors eight times with basic attacks, a dull totem transforms into a hex totem, cursing all Survivors. Damaging a Survivor with a basic attack inflicts a Hindered status effect.
Forever Entwined: Each time a Survivor takes damage, the Ghoul gains a token, up to eight. Each token increases the speed of picking up, dropping, and hooking Survivors.
None Are Free: Upon hooking a Survivor for the first time, the Ghoul gains a token, up to four. When all generators are completed, each token blocks all windows and upright pallets for a limited time.
These abilities and perks paint a picture of a highly mobile and aggressive Killer, capable of quickly traversing the map and inflicting significant damage.
And from what we’re seeing, the integration of the Kagune and Enraged Mode mechanics promises to introduce a unique and terrifying gameplay experience to Dead by Daylight. The Tokyo Ghoul collab officially arrives to Dead by Daylight on April 2, 2025.
