Overwatch 2 Season 20: Vendetta, Mythic Skins, and What to Expect
Overwatch 2 is closing out the year with a pretty stacked winter update—because Season 20, titled Vendetta, lands on December 9 and brings a new hero, fresh mythic cosmetics, and a revamped Winter Wonderland event to grind through. Here’s everything you need to know before the official drop next week.
The New Hero: Vendetta
Headlining the season is Vendetta, the game’s 45th hero and its first true melee-focused DPS. She’s a Talon-aligned gladiator who grew up fighting in the Colosseo pits after being cut out of her inheritance as Antonio Bartalotti’s daughter.
In-game, she’s built around a greatsword and tight-range pressure. Her Palatine Fang combo chains slashes into a big overhead hit, Warding Stance lets her block frontal damage and deflect melee attacks, and Soaring Slice/Whirlwind Dash give her quick gap-closing movement. Her ultimate, Sundering Blade, carves through defenses in a wide arc, while her Onslaught passive ramps up attack and movement speed the longer she stays in the fight. And major bonus points for her cinematic-esque gameplay.
Vendetta already had a limited-time trial, but she officially joins the roster with the launch of Season 20 on December 9. If you missed the test window, this is the first real chance to see how a fully melee DPS shifts brawls.
Mythic Skins, Weapons, and the Battle Pass
On the cosmetic side, Blizzard is leaning into new Mythics. Cassidy finally gets a spotlight with the Divine Desperado Mythic Hero skin, a celestial spin on the gunslinger that evolves across multiple tiers with alternate colorways and sky-lit effects at max level. Orisa picks up the season’s Mythic weapon, Capsule Cannon, a bright, candy-toned gun that visually powers up with eliminations and ends in a shower of starry effects once fully upgraded.
The Season 20 battle pass is loaded with winter-leaning looks. Legendary skins include Yukizaru Genji, Celestial Venture, Colder: 76, Frost Lich Reaper, and Skadi Freja. Epic outfits like Cold Front Tracer, Ice Crystal Symmetra, and Winter Guardian Illari round things out. The Ultimate Battle Pass bundle adds the premium track, tier skips, Coins, and two extra Legendaries: High Society Vendetta and Reindeer Tracer.
Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland returns from December 9 to January 7 with a few changes. Mischief & Magic prop hunt comes back on a winter map, then flips midway through the event so props can fight back. A new three-track reward setup lets you spend earned Winter Cookies across separate paths themed around Jingle Tracer, Krampus Junkrat, and Santa Torbjörn.
For players who’ve taken a break, Season 20 lines up as an easy point to jump back in: a new melee DPS, mythics with flair, and a winter event that gives more control over what you unlock.
