Just a few days ago, the highly anticipated anime series Dragon Ball Daima finally premiered, and fans were treated to a thrilling first episode that set the stage for an exciting new adventure. Here are some key takeaways from the debut episode,

Dragon Ball DAIMA (2024) | Toei Animation

The Timeline

Dragon Ball Daima is set within the canon timeline, immediately following the victory against Kid Buu in Dragon Ball Z. This new series unfolds with the remaining heroes celebrating Trunks' birthday, situating it before the events of both Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT on the franchise timeline. This placement allows for new adventures in a nostalgic Dragon Ball Z atmosphere while expanding the story and staying true to the established Dragon Ball lore.

New King of the Demon Realm: Gomah

One of the most significant reveals in the first episode is the introduction of Gomah, the new King of the Demon Realm, following the death of Dabura. Gomah's rise to power adds a layer of complexity to the story, as his ambitions and actions will undoubtedly impact the main characters and the overall plot as the series progresses (outside of his already obvious intentions). However, we should be worried about the newly introduced sibling duo. Furthermore, the newly unveiled politics and power struggles of the Demon Realm are expected to play a crucial role in the series as the action ramps up.

The Supreme Kai's Sibling: Degasu and Dr. Arisu

Another notable introduction is Degasu, the younger brother of the Supreme Kai, Shin. His presence, along with their sister Dr. Arisu, raises questions about their intentions and relationships within the Supreme Kai family. This dynamic adds depth to the existing lore and opens up new storylines that fans are eager to explore—that, and the suggestion that they have more sinister qualities than their heroic sibling, Shin.

The Demon Realm's Dragon Balls

The episode also introduces a fascinating twist with the Demon Realm's own set of Dragon Balls, protected by robotic creatures called Tamagami. These mystical orbs, when gathered, similarly summon the dragon Shenlong, who can grant any wish. While they are currently unavailable, we can assume there could still be a quest to collect these Dragon Balls. But at the very least, we now know another detail behind the Demon Realm lore!

Shenron's Summoning

On Kami's Lookout, Neva uses his power to gather Earth's Dragon Balls. Dende, the guardian of Earth, attempts to stop them but is knocked unconscious by Degasu. Meanwhile, at Capsule Corp, the Z-Warriors are celebrating Trunks' birthday when Degasu summons Shenron. Gomah wishes for the warriors who fought Majin Buu to be turned into children, setting the stage for their new challenges as much younger versions of themselves.
