Imperfect Women Brings a Friendship Breakdown Thriller to Apple TV
Apple TV is leaning into the slow-burn side of suspense with Imperfect Women, an eight-episode limited series that turns a decades-long friendship into a crime scene. Based on Araminta Hall’s novel, the series follows three women whose bond is shattered after a crime, with the fallout pushing them into an investigation that doesn’t just look for answers about the deceased but also exposes what they’ve been willing to hide from each other. Apple teases it as an “unconventional thriller,” with the investigation acting like a stress test, forcing old love, old resentments, and long-held secrets to surface all at once.
The headliners are Elisabeth Moss and Kerry Washington, who both star and executive produce, alongside Kate Mara. The ensemble around them is equally stacked, including Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll, Leslie Odom Jr., Jill Wagner, Rome Flynn, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Ana Ortiz, Wilson Bethel, Keith Carradine, and more.
Behind the camera, the series is created and run by Annie Weisman (who also executive produces), with Moss producing through Love & Squalor Pictures and Washington producing via Simpson Street. Lesli Linka Glatter directs and executive produces episodes one, four, and five, which should give the early stretch a clear tonal backbone.
Imperfect Women premieres globally on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, launching with the first two episodes, followed by weekly releases every Wednesday through April 29 on Apple TV.
