Red Velvet's Wendy Signs with ASND Label, Joining K-pop Icons fromis_9

Wendy, the powerhouse vocalist of K-pop sensation Red Velvet, has signed an exclusive contract with ASND Label, marking a new step in her solo career.

Wendy (2025) | ASND Label

The announcement comes just weeks after Wendy parted ways with SM Entertainment for her individual endeavors on April 4, 2025; while confirming she will remain a core member of Red Velvet for group activities under SM—a move similar to Girls Generation as its members repositioned elsewhere.

ASND Label welcomed Wendy with enthusiasm, emphasizing its commitment to supporting Wendy’s solo ventures while actively cooperating with her Red Velvet commitments. To celebrate the signing, ASND released a brief video clip and stunning profile photos of Wendy, showcasing her signature blue aesthetic—a nod to her designated color in Red Velvet. Wendy also launched her official X account, sharing additional visuals that highlight her poised and vibrant energy.

Since debuting with Red Velvet in 2014, Wendy has captivated audiences with her four-octave vocal range, featured in hits like “Red Flavor,” “Psycho,” and “Feel My Rhythm.” Her 2021 solo mini-album Like Water established her as a solo force, blending introspective lyrics with soulful melodies. Beyond music, Wendy’s versatility shines through her past roles as a radio host for Wendy’s Youngstreet (2021–2023), a panelist on variety shows like We Got Married, and her 2023 theatrical debut in the musical Rebecca. Her signing with ASND signals an opportunity to further explore these diverse talents, potentially in new music, media, or creative projects.

ASND, founded in January 2025, is a start-up label gaining traction with its management of fromis_9. Wendy’s addition bolsters its roster, positioning ASND as a hub for vocal powerhouses. The creative maneuver also reflects a broader K-pop trend where artists seek creative freedom while maintaining group legacies, ensuring fans can still expect Wendy’s presence in Red Velvet’s future endeavors, like their recent Cosmic EP for their 10th anniversary.

As she enters this new chapter, her journey is set to redefine her growing solo artistry while keeping Red Velvet’s spirit alive, offering fans a thrilling blend of continuity and reinvention.
