Hikaru Utada Releases New Single and Music Video for “PAPPAPARADISE”
Hikaru Utada has released “PAPPAPARADISE,” a new single that arrives with an official music video. The track was released on May 6, 2026, through Sony Music Labels and is now available as a one-song digital single on streaming platforms.
The official music video gives the release a playful, character-driven visual companion. Directed by Tomokazu Yamada, who previously worked with Utada on videos including “Naniirodemonai Hana (A Flower of No Color),” “Gold -Mata Au Hi Made-,” and “Mine or Yours,” the video follows Utada as a taxi driver encountering a rotating cast of passengers. Min Tanaka, Tokio Emoto, Kiyohiko Shibukawa, Junko Asano, and KONO appear in the video, giving it an ensemble quality that matches the song’s lively presentation.
The song has already landed two major placements in Japan. “PAPPAPARADISE” serves as the ending theme for the long-running anime Chibi Maruko-chan and is also being used in a commercial campaign for Ayataka, the Japanese green tea brand. A 7-inch vinyl edition of the single is scheduled to be released on June 24, 2026.
“PAPPAPARADISE” also arrives during an exciting release period for Utada. On the same day as the single’s vinyl release, June 24, remastered editions of Utada’s English-language albums Exodus and This Is The One are also set to arrive. Between the new single, its music video, the upcoming vinyl edition, and the catalog reissues, the release marks a busy moment for one of Japan’s most established pop artists.
