Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s SOULM8TE Comes Home This August
Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s SOULM8TE is heading to digital this summer. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that the sci-fi erotic thriller will premiere exclusively on digital retail platforms on August 1, 2026, giving audiences the chance to watch the film at home before its subscription streaming debut.
Everything You Need to Know About Soulm8te
Directed and co-written by Kate Dolan, SOULM8TE expands the M3GAN universe with a darker, more adult-leaning story about technology, desire, and control. In terms of plot, the film is said to follow a grieving engineer who is asked to test a powerful tech company’s new artificially intelligent android. Designed to become the perfect companion, the android begins developing desires, needs, and impulses of her own, turning the promise of connection into something much more dangerous. The cast of SOULM8TE includes Lily Sullivan, David Rysdahl, Claudia Doumit, and Arty Froushan. James Wan and Jason Blum produce, with a screenplay by Rafael Jordan and Dolan, based on a story by Wan, Ingrid Bisu, and Jordan.
Best known for You Are Not My Mother, Dolan has previously described SOULM8TE as a satirical take on modern technology's promise of connection. And rather than positioning artificial intelligence as a distant threat, the film explores how it intersects with romance, companionship, and grief. According to Dolan, the story also examines themes of desire, obsession, autonomy, and control through the lens of an erotic thriller, offering a darker, more adult-oriented expansion of the M3GAN universe.
