Marvel Makes One Classic X-Men Character an Avenger
Marvel comic fans, brace yourselves for a major shift in the Avengers lineup as Storm, a pivotal member of the X-Men, prepares to join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the coming months.
As of now, the Marvel comics universe is currently entrenched in the team-altering Fall of X title along with the vampire-centered Blood Hunt event, essentially setting the stage for significant changes and collaborations between several of Marvel’s biggest powerhouses. And from the looks of it, as these storylines wrap up, a fresh start is on the horizon that will continue to bridge two of the biggest teams across the comic book medium. And what better character to represent for the mutants?
Set to make her team-centric debut in August's Avengers #17, Marvel teases big things to come, with Avengers writer Jed MacKay explaining via press release, "When we were putting together thoughts for X-Men, one problem kept coming up—Storm needed to have a presence in a book befitting her status, but it would be weird for her to be on an X-Men team if she wasn't the leader. The solution was simple—she needed to be on the global stage, among equals, and what better place for that than the Avengers? We're excited to bring Storm back to the Avengers and show what adventures she'll get up to as part of Earth's Mightiest Heroes!"
The addition of Storm to the Avengers roster marks a significant moment in Marvel comics, underscoring the ever-evolving landscape of superhero alliances and the exciting possibilities that lie ahead for fans of both the X-Men and Avengers franchises. So you could basically say we’re fairly stoked about the major reveal.
Avengers #17 arrives on August 7, 2024.
