ZEDD Returns with His Immersive New Album, ‘Telos’

After nearly a decade, Zedd, the iconic electronic music producer, is making a triumphant return with his third studio album, Telos. Released on August 30, 2024, through Interscope Records, this album marks Zedd's first release since his 2015 album True Colors — and Telos does not disappoint.

The journey to Telos began years ago, with the album initially announced in 2022; however, the project faced delays, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Zedd described Telos as his most genuine and deeply personal album to date, aiming to create something timeless and meaningful.

Structurally, Telos is an exploration of themes of accomplishment and completion, reflecting Zedd's personal growth and artistic evolution. The title itself, derived from the ancient Greek word meaning "end," "purpose," or "goal," signifies the journey Zedd has undertaken to reach this point in his career. The album's soundscape is a blend of the familiar and the innovative, with each EDM-tinted track meticulously crafted to take listeners on an emotional and auditory journey.

"Out of Time," featuring Bea Miller, is a standout track that showcases Zedd's signature ability to blend catchy melodies with profound lyrical content. The song's pulsing beats and haunting synths create a sense of urgency, perfectly complementing Miller's emotive vocals. "Lucky," featuring Remi Wolf, brings a playful yet poignant energy to the album, with its bouncy rhythm and infectious chorus, making it a surefire hit for both the dance floor and introspective listening.

Still, one of the most anticipated collaborations on the album is "Dream Brother," which features vocals from the late Jeff Buckley. This track is a hauntingly beautiful tribute that combines Zedd's electronic prowess with Buckley's soulful and ethereal voice, resulting in a mesmerizing and deeply moving piece.

The overall production quality of Telos is an impeccable feat, with each track offering a unique blend of electronic elements and live instrumentation. Zedd's meticulous attention to detail is also apparent throughout the album, from the layered synths to the crisp percussion and the seamless integration of guest artists' contributions.

While there are plenty of tracks to enjoy on their own — Telos is a testament to Zedd's dedication to his craft and his desire to create something truly special. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer, this new album offers a rich and rewarding listening experience that is not to be missed.
