Baby DONT Cry’s ‘Bittersweet’ Is Stuck on Repeat
Even though it arrived at the tail end of March, Baby DON’T Cry’s title track “Bittersweet” hasn’t left our rotation—and it doesn’t seem like it will anytime soon. Why? For starters, it’s one of those rare pop songs that only gets better with each listen.
Beneath its bright, infectious melody lies an emotional core, pairing upbeat production with lyrics about holding onto cherished memories while letting go of pain. That duality carries through the song’s structure as well—over its 3 minutes and 20 seconds, glossy production, retro-leaning synths, and a soaring, arena-ready chorus collide with slightly forlorn vocals, creating a push-and-pull effect that practically demands repeat listens.
The track also leads Baby DON’T Cry’s debut mini-album AFTER CRY, a five-song project that launches the group’s planned “tears trilogy.” Rather than dwelling on what comes after heartbreak, the EP focuses on the quieter, more fragile moments just before the tears fall—capturing emotional tension in its most delicate form.
Alongside “Bittersweet,” the project includes pre-release single “Shapeshifter,” as well as “Mama I’m Alright,” “Moves Like Ciara,” and “Tears On My Pillow.” And with its polished sound and cohesive storytelling, AFTER CRY feels like a defining early statement for a group clearly on the rise.
Who Are Baby DONT Cry?
Formed under PSY’s P NATION label and creatively guided by i-dle’s Jeon Soyeon, the four-member girl group—Yihyun, Kumi, Mia, and Beni—debuted in June 2025 with their single album F Girl. They built their identity around “baby rock”: soft, youthful visuals paired with bold, honest confidence. Now just nine months into their career, AFTER CRY marks their first major step into deeper, more personal territory.
And two weeks later, “Bittersweet” is still proving that Baby DONT Cry’s blend of bright energy and quiet vulnerability is exactly what keeps listeners coming back. As the first chapter of their tears trilogy unfolds, the group is certainly carving out a space as one of 2026’s most promising new voices in K-pop.
