Ice Spice Drops "Big Guy" for SpongeBob's Next Film

Ice Spice is officially in her SpongeBob era, and it fits way better than it sounds on paper—because “Big Guy,” her new single for The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants, leans into the cartoon chaos of Bikini Bottom without ever losing the cool, clipped delivery that’s made her one of New York’s modern, defining voices in music.

Built around a bouncy, underwater-ready beat, “Big Guy” is a quirky victory for both SpongeBob and Ice. The hook taps into the movie’s plot about SpongeBob trying to prove himself, but the lyrics still feel like classic Ice Spice affirmations, full of casual flexes and shrug-off-your-haters energy. It’s also a kid-accessible track without reading as a kids’ song, the same way “Barbie World” threaded the needle between nostalgia and pure pop flex.

The rollout helps sell it as a moment, as opposed to being a throwaway soundtrack cut. For starters, the track arrives with an official video and a limited-edition 7" vinyl collab with Japanese graphic artist Verdy, featuring his Vick character, which folds her already deep fashion and visual world into the SpongeBob universe. It also marks her first-ever voice cameo in a film, adding one more lane to a resume that already includes Barbie The Album and a Spike Lee movie.

More importantly, Ice isn’t changing who she is to fit a family film; she’s simply pulling Bikini Bottom into her world, proving that her sugar-rush delivery and unbothered cool translate just as easily to multiplexes as they do to clubs and timelines.
