Heidi Montag’s Debut Album Becomes a Hit 15 Years After its Release

In the wake of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires that claimed their home, Heidi Montag and her husband Spencer Pratt have found an unexpected silver lining: a massive resurgence of interest in Montag's 2010 album, Superficial.

The album, which initially struggled to make an impact, has now climbed to the top of the iTunes charts with the release of its 15th Anniversary edition, thanks to a wave of support from fans—also helping Montag reach over a million monthly listeners on Spotify with major traction on social media.

Montag, who rose to fame on MTV's hit reality series The Hills, previously stated that both she and Pratt invested a significant portion of their earnings from the show into the album. During its production, she enlisted top producers, songwriters, and teams to bring her pop star vision to life, aiming to create a Y2K-inspired sensual-pop sound that resonated with listeners. Despite the initial commercial disappointment, the album has found a new cult audience in 2025, with its nostalgic and catchy tracks striking a chord with fans seeking a throwback to early 2000s pop music. Particularly the socialite anthem “Superficial” and the sultry “I’ll Do It”, which has already amassed nearly 70 million streams so far.

Pratt was the first to manifest the album’s resurgence on his social platforms, encouraging followers to listen to Montag's music as a way to support them during this devasting time—which led to the album hitting number one on iTunes. Since then, the couple has expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming love and support, noting that it has been a beacon of hope during such a dark period. In fact, Montag has even suggested that she’s received offers for a festival gig and even a potential collaboration with an industry-seasoned producer.

Fortunately, as Montag and Pratt navigate the aftermath of the wildfires, the unexpected success of Superficial serves as an optimistic reminder of the enduring power of music and the unwavering support of fans. Check out the recently released music video for Montag’s “I’ll Do It” included below.
