The Parenting: A Haunted Family Comedy Hits Max This March

The Max Original film, The Parenting, is set to premiere next month on Thursday, March 13, 2025, promising a unique blend of comedy and horror that's sure to keep you on the edge of your seat (while laughing, of course).

The film follows Rohan (Nik Dodani) and Josh (Brandon Flynn), a young couple planning a relaxing weekend getaway in the countryside to introduce their respective parents. What could possibly go wrong? Well, aside from the inevitable family tensions that bubble up between the more traditional Sharon (Edie Falco) and Frank (Brian Cox) and the more relaxed Liddy (Lisa Kudrow) and Cliff (Dean Norris), their idyllic retreat turns into a nightmare when they discover their rental house is inhabited by a 400-year-old poltergeist.

As if navigating the complexities of merging families wasn't enough, Rohan and Josh must now contend with a supernatural presence. Things take a decidedly spooky turn when one of the parents becomes possessed by the ancient entity. It's then up to the young couple, along with their meddlesome best friend, to unite the two families and find a way to banish the evil spirit before it's too late.

The Parenting is directed by Craig Johnson and written by Kent Sublette. The film is produced by Chris Bender and Jake Weiner, with Richard Brener, Chris Pan, David Neustadter, and Jared Ian Goldman serving as executive producers. This star-studded affair features an impressive ensemble cast, including the aforementioned Brian Cox, Edie Falco, Lisa Kudrow, Dean Norris, Parker Posey, Nik Dodani, Brandon Flynn, and Vivian Bang.

So, if you’re seeking a humor-tinted take on the supernatural, make sure to check out The Parenting when it debuts on Max this March.
