Over the past few years, singer-songwriter Fiaa Hamilton has been slowly making her trek into the pop music arena after earning the approval of talent like Little Mix, before going on to earn attention across TikTok — utilizing the platform’s vast reach to showcase her soulful voice and captivating lyrics, helping her steadily gain exposure while amassing a consistent following. Which, over time, have encouraged Hamilton’s natural transition into her commitment to becoming a full-fledged performer with plenty of personalized stories to tell.

And as a musician who’s currently embracing the digital age to showcase one’s prominent skills, Hamilton is quickly poising herself to make her mark on the industry with a unique blend of musical influences and a modern approach to connecting with audiences. Now, ahead of her debut EP, we’re taking the opportunity to chat with the up-and-coming singer about her unexpected origin story. Meet Fiaa Hamilton.

You’ve shared that the moment you met Rag‘n’Bone Man at the bar essentially kickstarted your music career. What was that first conversation like – and how nerve-wracking was the experience?

Fiaa Hamilton: I was so nervous, my friend had to go up to him for me, I just wanted to tell him I wrote songs, and he was someone that inspired me, I still can't believe I had that chance, some things in life just happen unexpectedly but are meant to be, he was so kind and grounded and gave me amazing advice!

With this EP, you plan to depict specific moments or chapters in your life. Was this something that you’ve always intended to do as an artist – or was it sparked by a particular event?

Fiaa Hamilton: I think it's something more recent, I've really found myself these days and it helped me feel good about even the dark times of my life and how they taught me so much so I want to showcase them, so we become less afraid of them as nothing needs to be perfect.

What are some of the core elements of your single “Love War” and how does it represent this first chapter of your story?

Fiaa Hamilton: It takes me back to my first hectic relationship; I was such a good girl and ended up with a guy who loved the attention and other girls. I think that innocence is felt throughout the song, but it’s got the passion of getting back up because being a fighter always does that! The actual song was written about my best friend who has literally been the person by my side through every moment of my life since I was a teenager, he’s caught my heart from falling so many times so that feels special that this song caught his heart!

When it comes to the co-writing and co-producing collaboration process with Jordan Cosmo and Gio Malone for “Love War” how would you say your styles complimented each other?

Fiaa Hamilton: Jordan is super pop, I’m soulful and deep with my lyrics and Gio is a total rock star, I think you can hear those styles within Love War! It really feels like a little bit of us all on the track. I also feel like I have such an old soul, Jordan has such a new soul and Gio is a free soul and that’s truly what complements when we all write together, it’s like different walks of life.

Can you give us a glimpse into what fans can expect from your upcoming debut EP through some of these personal stories?

Fiaa Hamilton: They basically know all of my songs because I perform them on [TikTok] live and they know I’m making my releases into a story, I’m a very real person, I’m honest and caring with all of my supporters but I feel like I’m bringing a bit of mystery with this EP and a world that they can all go to and get lost in whatever mood.

You have gained significant exposure through TikTok, a crucial platform for emerging artists. How has it helped in promoting your music and engaging your audience?

Fiaa Hamilton: TikTok has changed my life, I had no confidence to release my music before meeting my community on TikTok, I recommend it to all music artists and to just enjoy it! Not to expect, because yes, some people get viral moments but it’s not all about that, it’s a really fun, simple, and intimate platform for you to also slowly get your music heard.

What are your aspirations for your music career in 2024, especially following the release of your debut single?

Fiaa Hamilton: I just want my world to be an artistic, free place for people to come to! “Love War” is the first part of that and I’m excited to get the rest of the songs out to really give the listener an adventure, I also would love a support tour! And I want to write another EP once this one is out!
